Christmas

The tinsel on the tree glimmered at the light of the candles as Anna filled up the stockings with candies and toys. She checked the gifts under the tree, yes, they were all there with the names of the little receivers on the gift tags. She never bothered telling her children about Santa because the gifts always reflected how their year had been. The turkey is prepared, the vegetables ready. She is all set for tomorrow. She put on her uniform, ready for the night, ready for those mothers who needed her now. As she peeked at her children's room, a tear trickled down her cheek as she remembered the baby she had lost on this day many years back. Anna wiped the tear, straightened her uniform and went out to her car. She chuckled to herself thinking about all the babies who will be born tonight. They will hate it when their birthday presents will be the same as their Christmas ones.
