Ball

“Care to dance?” A tall, muscular, man with ivy green eyes and raven hair, bowed in front of me. I had been watching him all night, for I had never once seen him in my kingdom. He wore a black wolf mask that covered his top lip. He stood to his full height and extended a hand to me. I gave him a bright smile and grabbed on to his hand. As soon as our skin collided the heat from his hand spread through me like wild fire. His hands were rough and had calicos.

“For a prince your hands are very cruel!” I committed as he pulled my body close to his. A twitch in his lips as he leaded the way in our dance.

“Who said I was a prince?” He smirked, as he spun me in a circle before pulling me back against his chiseled chest. “You look exquisite tonight,” he smiled brightly down on me.

“I’m always exquisite,” I said with a cocky attitude. He let out a sweet, deep, laugh. He had a small dimple only on the right side of his face.

“I like you, and because of that, I would advise you to get down” he said in a low tone. The laughter and up-beat tone was gone out of his voice.

“Excuse me?” I asked out of breath.

“I mean, I asked you to face to kill you. There are twelve people here who are dancing with someone they are going to kill. So when I say go, drop to the ground.” He peered around the court catching the eye of another man two groups away. They gave each other a small nod before turning back to me. “Now, I will have to stab you, but don’t worry it won’t be fatal.”

I stood frozen in my place unable to move. The music drifted into the background and my ears rung. Before I could respond a sharp pain exploded on the right side of my stomach just below my rib. “Sorry darling,” was the last thing I heard before screams erupted and everything went dark.
