My Darkness
My darkness is darker than a demons’.
My fear is greater than a ghost’s.
My pain is stronger than a spear.
But my hunger is more powerful than most.
My demons hide and tremble
When I walk in their room.
My pain can twist and choke,
But other people’s where it blooms.
I wasn’t always like this.
No, once when I was small
I was a simple Innocent,
The most peaceful of them all.
But monsters came and woke me
From that deep and quiet sleep.
They tried to give me scars,
But it was their tricks I choose to keep.
They tried to put my fire out,
When I was just a lonely ember.
But they created an inferno,
So I said “return to sender.”
So now I watch and wait
For more prey to break in two.
And oh! I’ve got a target.
And that target, dear, is you.
