WRITING OBSTACLE
In another dimension, dinosaurs walk among humans, but they’re not at all like how the archeologists of our world predicted…
Write a descriptive scene about what dinosaurs are really like.
Journal Entry of a Dimension-hopper
Day 7
Afternoon
Today marks a week since I ended up in this 'dimension'. And it came with good news.
After a week of walking I finally ended up in a little town, which I cannot write the name of as I am unable to read the language.
A child who passed by told me it was called "Jurag", after I repeatedly pointed at it.
The humans of this town are frail. They are all skinny to the bone and walk in a hurry. They look like they are in perpetual fear, but the town seemed relatively safe (they have tall fences with spikes, although no guards). They speak in whispers that I do not understand.
In front of each residence they have giant boulders.
I inspected them up close, the archeologist in me unable to ignore them. It was granite, large blocks of granite. I assume it is either for decoration or there is a religious purpose to it.
There was one house though, that had no granite boulders. Well, a house would be a stretch, it looked like a palace. Towering over the whole town. It must be where the mayor lived. Quite a materialistic man he must be.
I wanted to walk up to it, but was dragged away. It was a woman, although as skinny as the others had a tight grip on my arm. She was scolding me in a low voice, though I wasn't sure why or what she was saying.
Lucky for me, it turns out she ran an inn and was more than happy to give me a room (I have no money, but she was quite happy with the large brush I had).
I am writing this entry in the inn, fed and content. The only thing asked of me was to not open the curtains. She seemed particularly terrified when she pointed at the curtains and shook her head no. I wonder just what I would see outside of the window.
Night
I am in hell.
If this isn't hell then this must be an area personally created by the devil to make it seem like hell.
I had woken up to the noise of footsteps from outside. Loud, heavy, and more than one. I could hear the soft voice of the woman from the next room, she was sobbing and muttering something, obviously terrified. Was this the source of terror?
The footsteps were loud, but they seemed to be a distant away. I was cautious with my actions, but ever so slightly, I opened the curtains and peeked out.
Dinosaurs.
I should feel blessed to see dinosaurs with my very own eyes I know. But they are nothing like how I imagined them. Of course I should be more surprised that they are all wearing suits and are walking amongst humans, but then again, this is another dimension.
But to think they'd be so inhumane.
The Brachiosaurus, with it's elongated neck and heavy footsteps walked up towards a house diagonally from the inn. It bent over the granite boulder, and with its flat teeth crushed it whole. Terror filled my bones as I watched it chew, as if judging the taste.
The terror spiked when he shook his head. Disapproval. And before I could even blink a Pterosaur flew over at a great speed and landed right on the roof. I heard a shrill scream as it flew up again, taking the whole roof with it.
It was a horrible sight. Velociraptors, Allosauruses, a Baryonyx, all in varying fancy suits and dresses crowded that house. I cannot describe what happened as I could not bear to look any further, but the sounds of cracking and crunching explained enough.
I am now laying in bed, every time I close my eyes the noises echo in my mind, haunting me. I recall the professors from my first dimension, their theories on dinosaurs and their behaviors. They are supposed to be animals, natural predators.
But in this world where they have human-like minds and lifestyles, they are not just predators anymore. They are monsters.
I plan to leave this town as soon as the sun rises. I can only pray that I live to see another day. I can only pray that I do not fall into the hands of these monsters.
