STORY STARTER
Submitted by Quill To Page
Write a short story or poem that starts with a letter.
It can be a death threat or a love letter, a mission or a murder. It could be any letter, but make it integral to the story.
The line of lies
In her hand, she clutched a letter so tightly her knuckles turned white and tears welled up in her eyes. The letter read, "I hope you know, I will always choose, you."
She took a pause. Her breath stopped.
Polaroids were scattered across the table in front of her - each one captured him with another woman. It was obvious that they were more than just friends - the way he looked at her, the way his hands were placed on her and the way he smiled so brightly. They were inside the package addressed to him from an unknown sender.
She had always thought that they would be each other's end game.
She turned around to the bookshelf behind her; the letter she received from him when he first asked her out was stored inside a clear folder and displayed. She took it out from the file and read the first line.
Angry at herself for not knowing any better, she crumpled the letter that she once treasured.
