What Did You Do?
The rose in your hand
Your knee on the floor
The evening sun shining on you
The shock in her eyes
Her smile falling away
Oh, Tommy, what did you do?
She's shaking her head
And turning away
You try to call her back, you do
You drop the flower and reach for her hand
But she's gone
Oh, Tommy, what did you do?
The phone in your hand
Your eyes full of tears
You cannot believe that it's true
But it is, you've been blocked
She's not getting your texts
Oh, Tommy, what did you do?
She won't answer your calls
Or hear you at all
After what you did out of the blue
An old friendship shattered
Like it never mattered
Oh, Tommy, what did you do?
The knife in your hand
Your whole body shaking
As you take in the horrible view
Her eyes open wide
Clutching her bleeding side
Oh, Tommy, what did you do?
If you can't be her man
Nobody else can
In your anger, it felt easy and true
But now that it's through
Blood and bile rise in you
Oh, Tommy, what did you do?
