They say forgiveness is a virtue, but I’d rather keep my anger. It was having sympathy that put me in this present danger. I was taught to show love to everyone, including strangers. And to help those in need, do society a favor.
But what have I gained from it; where's my reward, society? Why is it that when I help others they all throw stones at me? What crimes have I committed against you? On the contrary, I believe that I've served justice and improved the lives of many.
So quick to judge when its not you behind the mask And risking your life for others is not a daily task They once called me a hero, a light in a loathing darkness But now I become what I once fought, since my heart they've hardened.
Gold is more than a precious metal It’s a feeling, the one when the dust settles And the victory is yours
It’s relief that you’ve won, and the battle is done It’s an emotion of wonder That comes when you discover A treasure, physical or other
Gold is a color Unlike any other One of prestige and of merit to behold The best of the best Is what it represents In any form, hot liquid or hard and cold
But more than both of these, Gold is a time Gold is time in itself The sun as it shines The stars in the night The golden of something well kept
And Gold is a soul Of pureness and light A light that can shine in the darkest of nights A brightness that transcends the black and white Yes Gold is a color that can represent life
The life of the trees as the sap leaks out The life that the sun brings as it shines down The life that lights up the eyes of a newborn’s parents The light in the hearts of two life long lovers
Gold is a thing, yes this is true And gold is a color, but more than a hue It’s a feeling, a light A soul, a view
So ask yourself this Who brings gold to you But more than that Who do you bring gold to?
With night comes the darkness But also the stars We’ve no concept of light If it weren’t for the dark It because we’ve seen hate We know love from the heart The only ones who know what’s whole Are those who know what’s broken apart
You cant grow a plant Without burying a seed And some diseases can’t be healed Unless you first bleed We wouldn’t know color If there were not black and white We wouldn’t know peace Had there not been a fight
Those that are allies Have common enemies We know to find balance Because we see the extremes And it because we see dirty That we begin to clean
The world and life we live Is one of antonyms You can’t see the light Without knowing there’s darkness within
