Lily had been cooking the same recipe for years. The recipe that her restaurant was the most famous for.
Mushroom ravioli.
She made the pasta dough;
Flour, eggs, oil, water, salt.
She simmered and combined the filling of the mushrooms;
Porcini mushrooms, fresh mushrooms, olive oil, parsley, cloves of garlic, salt, black pepper, eggs, ricotta cheese.
She used a far of her famous sauce to coat the masterpiece, then she put it in a giant pot, ready for anyone who orders it, for a waiter could simply scoop it up and put it in a bowl.
Little did all the costumers, including Lily, know that she accidentally used Death Cap mushrooms. ——————————————————— For all who are too lazy to google it, or read this before you would, Death caps are considered the most deadly type of mushroom, it causes symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea, and nausea. The symptoms will subside after a few days, feigning the victims health improving, only to learn tryst they have life-threatening damage to their liver. It causes 90 percent of the deaths caused by mushroom poisoning.
This is why I hate mushrooms.
No!
Not him! Not him!
I sprinted across the blood soaked ground. Trying desperately to reach the captured in time.
Small cages hung from the trees, filled with two or more people each, who raised their heads and stared at me. There was too little space for them to move, they were practically breathing down each other's necks.
But they weren't the ones I was most concerned about in the moment. I sprinted towards my older brother, who was hanging by his wrists over a large pot, with boiling water inside. Of course those savages would eat them. There was no heart in their chests, only their loyalty to the Emperor.
The Ocstivalts hadn't noticed me, wi the all the eyes all over their body, it was a kind of irony. Yet every eye was fixated on my brother, their small, perfectly round mouths filled with sharp teeth were drooling with hunger.
My brother was slowly lowered into the pot. I let out of shriek of rage and opened my arms, like I was going to hug someone. But then I let my magic off the internal harness I kept it on, and it flowed through me, filling me with warmth and confidence. I pointed it into the direction of the the pot and a burst of light flew to it, too eager to help. My magic tried, yet it didn't knock over the giant copper pot like I wanted it to.
Now the Ocstivalts knew that I was here and they turned to me, while my brother was still being lowered in. He looked up and at me, unable to see my real face through the dark purple mask - with blue eyes underneath the cut holes for mine - that I wore. The Ocstivalts recognized the mask too, and they roared at me and charged. I leapt out of the way and pulled myself into the air, out of their reach. With my magic pushing against my skin, keeping me afloat, I flew towards my brother, grabbed him, and pulled him up with me as far as his chains would allow. I grabbed the chains and froze them, with a jerk, they snapped off of his wrists.
I flew him down and gently set him down on a tree branch, glanceing him over for injuries. He had bruises on his face and body, but nothing life threatning. He looked terrified, his dark eyes looking at me in fear and surprise.
But I had other people to save.
It was all I could to pull myself away from him and turn towards the hoard of Ocstivalts, growling at me in fury. They knew who I pretended to be. Not who I was. The only side of me they knew was known as, "The Shadow Witch." Infamously known for fighting for the revolution against the power hungry Emperor and one of the most wanted crinimals. I had I high price above my head.
And I won't let anyone take it.
I let my magic loose again, but instead of pointing it in a certain direction, I gave my magic all my burning hatred towards the Emperor, all the fierce protectiveness over my country an my brother.
My magic returned the hatred and set off into the Ocstivalts hearts inthe form of fire. In three seconds, all of their bodies crumpled to the ground, a massive hole burned in their chest. The magic that still had energy flew into the cages hanging in the trees, breaking the locks.
Then all was silent as the magic dies off.
My brother was staring at me in shock. Shock that I didn’t understand. He has seen me before, as the Shadow Witch I mean.
My hand went up to touch my mask and instead it touched my cheek.
My mask had burned off. They knew who I was.
I turned back to Johnny, who was staring at me with a look of betrayal.
How would he react?
I have to. Right? To save him, it's the only way. It's for the best. Tears roll down my cheeks as I pack up my bag silently in our bedroom, glanceing at my husband, still asleep, a small smile on his face. It hurt me to leave him. It gave me pain to know how much it will hurt him. Like my chest is being cracked, then torn apart. It was almost too much to bare. But I must. I opened the note to remind myself again what would happen if I stayed. I skipped the polite normal sounding stuff and skipped right down to the point.
I know about your pregnancy, John doesn't. If you stay with hin, have no doubt I will kill your only child, and destroy your reputation with your husband.
Clipped in with a safety clip was the photos of the baby, still alive and growing in my belly. They were an exact replica of the photos I got yesterday while at the doctors. I haven't told anyone about this. Yet I knew the woman behind this meant business. We used to be friends, till he grew bored of her fanatics and turned to me. She was always a wild card and exhausting, but she had the power, reputation, and money to make others bend at her will. More tears rolled flowed as I grabbed some money from the safe, enough to get me started somewhere else. I can't do this. I can't leave him. He was my world, my reason for life! Until the baby came along. Maybe it's just any mother's instinct, but I never thought I could possibly love someone more then John. But even though I haven't even met the baby yet, it was my top priority and I would do anything for it. It's for the best. I ran out the from door with my suitcase dragging behind me. The only thing I had in my mind was to get as far away as I could, while trying not to collapse in grief. I made it to the outskirts of town when a bunch of sleek black SUVs pulled up, in front of me and behind me. I was trapped. A woman with impressivly high heels and a tight dress flowed gracefully put of the SUV in front of me. I took a step back in fear as other men and women with guns stepped out. "I did what you asked," I said to her, my voice shaking in fear. "You have no reason to hurt me or him." The woman smirked at me. "I said I wouldn't kill, not like I wouldn't t hurt." She flicked her hand. I heard a gunshot and a sharp, unbearable gain in my knee. I dropped to the floor, screaming in pain. My forehead pressed against the concrete of the sidewalk and a small pool of blood begins to grow around my knee. "What did I do to you?!" I sob. She glared at me. I never knew so much rage and vengeance could be in ones eyes, but that was all that was in here. "You stole my only love. We were friends, Miranda, friends! And you took him from me. And for that..." she raised a crowbar above her head. "You and your child, will pay with your screams." she smiled. "It's for the best honey." Then the crowbar collided with my head.
The audacity! How dare he believe that he could date her and get away with it! I knew he was up to something when he would go to all those clubs. I’m his wife! What makes him think he can cheat on me? He won’t get away with it. That’s for sure. He won’t be one of those boneheaded men who think they can play others like a baby with a toy. Playing with one, then getting bored and moving to the next. We are better then toys. We are strong and independent and cannot be controlled. Throw us away and we will come back stronger and better. But by then, we will be too good for you. I am not a toy to be used.
This was it The only thing left we had to do before making our world perfect. Getting rid of all abnormal beings. We've started with the deformed and disabled of our kind, then we exterminated the ones who play make believe. Those who were smarter then the rest were put into werehouses for work, all we have left are the shape shifters. Those whom have protected our planet for centuries, bit now that we can protect ourselves with machinery, they are no longer useful to us. Success! The creature was dead, along with the last shape shifter in our planet. Now we were perfect. No one was better or worse then anyone else, therefore we shall live in perfect harmony. We've gotten rid of all that could destroy us. The shape shifters, the animals, the water that could destroy our electrical components... And the humans. Now we are all the same. All that live on this earth or the superior beings of the universe. Robots.
