A silent bomb went off in Mae’s stomach. She could feel the faint movement of the ground start to rumble in the far distance. They’re coming
She warned her people cause she knew; the others would return some day starting over again here on Earth. She never doubted their return only preparing for this day that has come. She looks around thinking about what the others might do. She’s been teaching her brothers and sisters on how to fight and when to stand down To blend in with the crowds since this is not only about the battle of the strong. It is also to see who is more cunning when the Gods begin to play their mind games with us all. They will trick you with their beauty eagerly waiting for your walls to come down but what I’ve learned in the past is that the Gods only come down here to not be so bored with their own kind. So she prays to her kin that helped her to see how these creatures coming to our door steps… are only the beginning. —————————
The Twins
“Brother why must you always take my food?”
“Because it’s delicious, and also, you don’t want me to starve do you?”
“Well I hope it was worth the sin for I am annoyed enough now that your future is to be held by my hands and it is a guarantee that I will make it the most unpleasant experience .”
“Brother come now, we don’t have time for your dramatics today.” “Mother will be the one to take action on your words if we do not succeed on the tasks at hand.”
“Fine, but you owe me a snack later.”
Tidus laughed, clasping the arm of his twin, pulling him towards the edge of the cliff.
Clause rolled his eyes as he was pulled taking in a breath before falling towards earth. He hated it when Tidus did this. Who’s the dramatic one now huh?
The Twins were bullets, shooting down to the lower levels of earth catching fire to anything near them.
Tidus moved to the left while Clause moved to the right leaving the living to burn in their wake. Maybe some of them will be quick with the way things change and make it out of there, but then again, the elements seem to not give them the option nor mercy.
Coming full circle, the twins managed to bring chaos in all directions.
“You missed a spot.”
“Is that really necessary, critiquing me of my work?”
“Oh but it is.”
“Well if you could keep it to yourself next time or write it down and burn it, that would be lovely.”
“I’ll think about it.”
“Thank you brother.”
Screaming was heard in the distance. Crackling and cracking of the trees persisted. Smoke covered the skies like they were grey wool blankets keeping the heat in. And what was left of the spring season blooming flowers had collected ash on the peddles leaving the insects and animals that were roaming in despair. ————————— Mae’s cream colored coffee was saved to sip on for a later time now that real threats are here. She pushed the door aside to exit the coffee shop already dialing the only person who knows how to handle situations like this.
“Daliah, you must have felt it too.”
-“Indeed I did, and to think with all that comes through here every day making noise, one can never mistake the sound of doom.”
I thought my instructor said I had the easy job today, but I know she’s just taking it out on me when I won at bowling night. That’s alright, I’ll make sure to surprise her with something later.
Now how the hell do I get out of this vent again?
Squirming her way inch by inch, Talia steadies her breathing making sure no sound is heard by the guards below her. She was picked for this job only because of her petite size and mouse like silence she is capable of executing. People told her all of the time how quiet she was and how loud she needed to learn to be or how she needed to speak up (thanks dad) but she kind of liked scaring the wits out of her loved ones popping up only to ask them simple questions but startling them instead or not letting her existence be known to others until they turn and see her standing right there scaring the living crap out of them. It fills her with joy every time.
She’s almost to her exit keeping up on the minimum noise with the help of her body suit only to hear one guard below begin yawning, starting to stretch, long enough arms coming up swiftly but gently hitting the top of the vent where she’s laying.
Talia stops every motion in her body but her heart is going a million miles a minute praying that she doesn’t give away her position. His arms fall to his side once more gesturing to the others how he’s going for his break.
You know even if that was the luckiest thing that happened to me today, I would’ve loved it if total destruction would have happened only because my romantic butt would have been taken over by some strong man’s arms catching me mid fall and then my heist life could end there and maybe have a happily ever after but instead here I am still in this vent trying not to die overexerting my poor heart.
Exiting the vent was a breaze with all the flips and slow come downs with my slim arms and legs but keeping my stomach from growling once I realized I had no snacks on this trip was the challenge that broke me.
Talia had high hopes of focusing and bee-lining it to the boss’s bedroom to switch some paper with codes on it but it all went sideways when the one and only showed up.
“ Talia.”
“Arron.”
“Always a pleasure.”
“Can’t say the same.”
Talia pushes pass Arron, ignoring his stupid smirk.
Arron always thought he had Talia under his spell with his blonde hair, brown eyes and strong jawline but he was quite mistaken. His personality won him the title of “Complete Asshole” in her eyes with much backed-up experience whenever she worked with him in the past.
“That’s alright, I know you’ve missed me.”
