The runners were nervously stretching. Nobody talked. Then, Bill said “I’m totally gonna lose.” Everyone gathered up to the starting line. 3... 2... 1... go! Bill suddenly fell. “Ouch!” Then, he realized nobody was there. He was first! He got up and ran as hard as he can. He ran so fast, he finished! And that was just the first ten minutes.
I wanted to run, Alone and free, There’s one and only one Person here, and that’s me.
True, I’m on the woman’s team, I’m a star athlete, But I have a dream, That’ll come true once my job’s complete.
I’ll start running races, No more uniforms or balls, No more nervous faces, Just running in the halls.
Stuck on a branch, waiting, wishing to be free. When will I fall and be swept away? When will I float along the Amazon River and hang on the Eiffel Tower? Then the wind came. Is this it? Will I finally fall off my depressing branch? I started swaying. Then, I felt my stem breaking and... whoa! I was flying! But a second later, the humble forest I’ve lived in for 8 years was out of sight. I saw sand, and then a vast ocean below me. Soon, I was lost. And when the storm stopped, I fell gently on the ocean and sunk to the ocean floor. No thrill, only krill. Next time, I’ll be careful for what I wish for.
Jones is a mysterious gentleman. He’s wearing black clothes with a hoodie covering his face. All I could see was his intimidating eyes.
“So, I’ve been thinking. See that bar?” “Yeah” I replied. “There’s so much food there. Good food. You hungry?” “Yeah” I said. “We could eat it all, but it costs a pretty penny. Whaddya say we sneak over there and grab ourselves some?” I could eat a horse, but what if we get caught? It ain’t legal! It’s a big decision.
Well, I decided there are cheaper places. It ain’t worth it. I tipped my hat and said “Good day, Jones” and left the bar.
I give light to a family of 7, but not once have they ever thanked me. They never will, nobody talks to chandeliers. I wish they did. Every day, I wonder if I should tell them. Should I let them know I have feelings too? Should I get revenge? After all, nobody ever acknowledges me. Nobody ever cares.
But then I realized something. While they never thank me, they don’t need another problem in life. They don’t listen to me, but I listen to them. Why should I be mean to them? I enjoy my job. I decided to treat others the way I want to be treated, even if I’ll never be treated that way.
I love desserts. From Reese’s cups to KitKats, I love them. For Christmas, I wished for infinite desserts. I woke up grinning and jumped out of bed excitedly. So when I saw a door with a sign saying “INFINITE OREOS”, I just couldn’t resist. It was right by my bed. So I’ve been snacking ever since. One day, I saw a newspaper article in the mailbox. “Oreo Bandits” was the title. The Oreo bandits are bandits who smell Oreos from miles away. I immediately realized I’m in trouble. Then, a bunch of bandits showed up and said “show me the Oreos”. I didn’t want to anger them, so I showed them. They dived in and shoved them in their mouth. I heard their nasty chewing and their face was covered in filling, with crumbs all over their mouths. The smell of chocolate was overwhelming.
Next Christmas, I did not wish for desserts.
Each antique brings back memories. The store is so old, it’s part of my childhood. “Pick one, any one” the man behind the desk said. I ran my hands against the brown, worn tables and eyed the vases and china. But one antique was special. It was a clock, older than the store itself. I heard a faint “tick, tock”. I felt the sides and suddenly, the store started to change. The items looked newer, and the walls were clean. I looked at the clock. People were lugging boxes into the store. A young man grinned and said “Welcome.”
Julius thought he was safe. He was on vacation for days. Once he came home, he saw it was damaged. He looked for a suspect, but no luck. He looked around the ruined apartment, but the only people were a plumber, a little girl, and an electrician, but none of them were-wait... Of course! Mr. Harris was very new at his job. He’s quitting soon, anyway. Obviously, this isn’t the job for him. Julius felt slightly bad. While he was enjoying 2 weeks of luxury in the Malibu, poor Mr. Harris struggled to do his job. Well, it was too late. Oh, well.
