I slowly sit up and look around at my surroundings. I have no idea where I am, but I know that I am not in my bedroom anymore. The last thing I remember was wishing on a star that my life would be more interesting than it was in the small town I lived in. I think I got my wish because it looks like I am in the bathroom from that “Saw” movie I saw clips from online. I decide to take inventory of my surroundings and notice that my leg is chained to the bathtub that has the faucet slowly dripping water in a small stream. There is a note on the door saying that the key to my shackle is taped to the ceiling but there is no way to get to it. The room is sealed off so when the water over flows the tub it will fill up the bathroom and I could float up to the ceiling and get the key. Only problem is that there are outlets in here and I don’t want to get electrocuted. What do I do?
For the first time, tributes are allowed to bring a non-lethal item with them into The Games. Luckily they told us a week before reaping day. It took a few days for me to find something I could use to survive, but I finally decided on an old cloak that belonged to my dad. It was warm and it was good at blending into the environment if I wanted to hide. I already had knowledge about all of the edible plants that they were likely to put in the arena so if I can find a good place to hide I could wait out the games in safety.
We’ve all heard the story about Rip Van Winkle and his really long nap. I’m here to tell you that it’s a true story and every third generation one of us from the Van Winkle bloodline is chosen for the long sleep. This generation it’s my turn. I know it’s almost time to sleep because the fairy wine has appeared by my bedside.
I was happily sailing my little sailing boat in the open ocean. I was practicing living on my own because if I could last a week by myself my parents would buy me my own houseboat. Everything was going so well until the last day when the local weather station said that there was a storm coming soon. Judging by the instruments on the control panel the storm would be upon me before I could get back to shore. So I prepared to ride out the storm. During my preparation, I happened to look at the water and I wish that I had not done that. A few hundred feet below my boat was a giant shadow. It wasn’t anything I had ever seen before. Before I could identify it I woke up.
I was scrolling through the latest trending dating app when I saw a profile for a guy whose entire personality was based on his Hogwarts house. For fun, I swiped right, and a few minutes later he matched with me. We had fun talking about the world of Harry Potter. We found out that we had other interests in common and started dating.
