Life is what you make of it. Not in the hallmark card kind of way, but in a self fulfilling prophecy one. If you believe that the world is a harsh, uncaring place and everyone is out to get you… You will treat people the way you expect to be treated by them. People will turn cold to you, because you never gave a reason not to. If you suffocate every flame that comes near you in fear of being burned, you’ll never know the warmth and joy of a candle in the dark or a fireplace on a cold winter night.
Likewise, if you believe the world is good, you’ll see the good in the world. You’re more likely to see rude people as having a bad day. To see an aggressive animal as frightened. You’ll find joy in watching a sunrise with a warm cup of tea, and sunsets with a glass of wine. Watching the flowers bloom in spring, and the leaves change in autumn. It’s the little things in life, you’ll say, when people question how you find joy in the mundane of everyday life.
I believe the true meaning lies in the middle. Life is an intricate dance of good and bad, of ups and downs. It ebs and flows, comes and goes… Each day something new and exciting, if you let it. But on the days it’s not, it means a day to recuperate. Nobody can live at 100 at am times, just as nobody can live at 0. And eventually… we die, and in our final moments we live it all over again. Wouldn’t you know it, death is also a part of life.
