“While the night is still young…oh how I wish things could go back to the way they were in the past,” I told myself as I got on the train to go to work. Life on Earth has been pretty bright for the last couple of centuries ever since scientists found a way to harness the energy of the sun to make the earth eternally bright. I don’t know why they’d do that…like seriously what’s the point of it being sunny all day. No more nights mean we’d all be exposed to the rays of the sun 24/7 and that’s not good…I think…Well, I don’t know much, but what I do know is that if this train doesn’t move any faster I’ll be late for work…
“Everything’s going great!”, I said to Janae as we celebrated our friend’s 21st birthday. Samantha did so much for us this past year, so we decided to throw her a grand celebration. All of our friends came and we was having a good ol’ time. “Nothing could possibly go wrong!”, Janae said. Then out of nowhere, believe it or not, we see smoke coming from the kitchen. I looked at Janae and she looked at me. “OH MY GOODNESS!” I yelled out as we rushed to the kitchen. There, in the oven, what was supposed to the magnum opus of the party, was now a burnt chocolate cake, over baked with regret and neglect.
“I TOLD YOU TO WATCH THE CAKE!”, I screamed. “HEIFER HOW COULD WATCH THE CAKE AND TALK TO YOU AT THE SAME TIME?”, Janae yelled. “Girl if a buck could breakdance like a brick..” I said as I grit my teeth. “Kelsey you can’t put this on me dawg, now you knew about the cake to.” Janae said as she walked over to the oven. “UGH…now what…we ain’t got no cake, no mo’ money, and no back ups.”, I said. “Well…I have an idea.” Janae said. She looked over at the icing. “No…”,I said “You wouldn’t.” “Kelsey…we outta time, but we sure ain’t outta options.”
Janae said. We served the cake along with the ice cream we had and we saw the faces of sadness and rage “AYO WHO DA F*** BURNT THE GOT D*** CAKE?” one of our friends said as he threw the cake down. As we where sweating bullets, we see a catering company pull up to the party. “Sorry we were late.”, he said unloading all the food from his truck. Janae and I looked at each other with confusion. “Did you?”, I asked. “I thought you..” Janae said. “I did it.”, Samantha said walking up to both of us “ I knew you knuckleheads were gonna mess up the cake so I ordered a catering service in advance. It was funny as heck seeing y’all serve that burnt a** cake though.” She laughed and walked to the catering guy. Janae and I both just looked at each other and laughed. “Well…that’s one way to save a party.”, I said
Though the winds may seem fierce And pierce through your heart they do I say you, I say you…Carry on Life goes on and when life gets going Know one thing and that thing is push Don’t shush that fire in your soul Never fold or submit into defeat For your treat, your reward is nigh Don’t ask why I say these things unto you For I too must follow this way of living So my being can one day be whole And oh what a glorious day that will be For unto thee will arise a true champion So carry on…
The genie looked at the two weary explorers with confusion as they rambled to each other
“But…pizza cookie…” “Are you seriously gonna waste your wish on a Pizza cookie…A…PIZZA COOKIE??!!” “Well why not?” “We literally traveled miles upon miles…traversed literal MOUNTAINS AND VALLEYS… heck we even passed through the desert and don’t even REMIND ME of what we had to do to stay hydrated” “Well when you put it like that…I guess a pizza cookie is a rather minuscule reward for our journey…” “Now you’re thinking big brained” “Therefore… I wish for TWO PIZZA COOKIES!!!” “Yea get two…WAIT WHAT!..MAT NO!”
It was warm, peaceful, a place unlike another. My fiancée and I had finally arrived at the Arthur Penny’s resort, an esteemed establishment in southern Florida. “Aren’t you excited to be here?” she had said. Her brown eyes gleamed in the sunlight complimenting her rich ebony skin along with her bright wonderful smile. “Of course dear!” I had said with much enthusiasm. “We worked so hard for this.” And work we did. The process was rather difficult since our families didn’t agree with our relationship, but in the end managed to let it be for our happiness. Truly, it was paradise.
We headed over to the receptionist to check into our rooms and once we were settled in we decided to go back down to the lobby to get some food since it was still lunch time. We sat at a table and tried the food. I kid you not, my fiancée took one bite and just spit all of it out. “Why is this food so bland?” she had said. “High cholesterol must be a necessity to bring out some kind of taste”. I almost choked from laughter. “To think a nice place like this would have good food…ugh, can we please go elsewhere?” she had asked. I didn’t expect for the resort to have such bad food. “Well we can try one of the local restaurants down here”, I said, and she reluctantly agreed.
We got to the car we drove into the main part of town and we admired all of the beautiful scenery. We decided to eat at this hibachi restaurant and we absolutely loved it. The cooks were super friendly, the performances were amazing and the food was phenomenal. I swear I had never seen my fiancée so impressed with the flavour. “This junk is BUSSIN’…Now this is how you cook some food, not that old paper machete pasta they had back at the resort,” she said while taking a big bite of her filet mignon. I just couldn’t help but laugh, no matter what situation we were in, she had always found a way to make me laugh. “I’m so blessed and fortunate to have someone like you,” I thought to myself.
After lunch, we went sightseeing again and this time we saw a little ice cream shop called “Betty’s Booth”. It had an old fashion charm to it and it was pretty cute. “Oooooh, let’s go there, you know I love me some good ice cream”, she said knowing good and well she was lactose intolerant. Once we got our ice cream we decided to sit down. Just then, a familiar face walked into the shop and I looked on in shock. “What’s wrong?”, my fiancée asked only to turn around herself to see that tall dark skinned woman. Fear consumed our hearts. “Oh god…what is my ex doing here?” she said. Had I only known what would’ve happened next, I would’ve gotten the ice cream to go without hesitation.
