Do you ever wonder What would be the plunder To be the sun that burns in the sky?
While bright and majestic With a pull so magnetic Yet no one ever stops by.
For in distance you give life In closeness you take it With your fire that burns so ever-bright.
Do you think it would be lonely To be the only Star that lights our days and nights?
To be admired from afar But the most admiration by far Is when the moon brings the darkness of night.
Blocking out the suns light While only for a time Enveloping the earth in a cool embrace.
With a circle of light To show it is not night The eclipse covers your face.
Crowds start to gather And you sense joy and laughter As they watch you, you sense an odd joy.
For even obstructed They look up above them To watch the splendor of you.
The morning comes, the light that used to warm our faces Now only a reminder of times long past With it, comes another day in your abscence Finding a way to push through seems as daunting a task as ever Will I be whole again? A foolish question, for without you my soul only yearns for the warm of your embrace once more And that is all she knows. The abyss that I’ve come to call my home greets me into another day trudging her depths Depths so dark that many would choose any other path But that is the nature of grief. I take pleasure in the darkness Because the darkness is a reminder of the light that left my life upon your departure So I walk this path Cold and lonesome And I find comfort in the depths For they only exist because you once filled them And that is my consolation. If ever a chance was given To go back and change it all I wouldn’t change a thing, choosing this darkness over a life of bliss Because to know this darkness, is to know the abscence of you And abscence makes the heart grow fonder it seems She has become my companion A friend to walk along my side A constant reminder Of what I once loved And my love for you will transcend time and space itself To hold you once more It’s what I live for.
