It’s all a game. The blood. The cries. The agony.
It’s all a game. The darkness. The silence. The betrayal.
It’s all a game. The poison. The death. The murder.
The rules are simple. The fun and easy so play along. How do you know you’ve won you ask? Well, you don’t. That’s the fun. You can only infer that you have because there will be no one to tell you otherwise. So if you win or lose, don’t worry! It’s just a game.
Sex
At nighttime we pretend. It’s easier in bed. Our heightened emotions distort into a twisted desire to have each other close.
Money
We act like we have it. Lavish trips and enough left over for a few hits.
Power
We bathe in it. She likes control. I like being controlled.
Sex, Money, Power. Many would say we lust and we envy. That we are filled to the brim with greed. But we will carry on as we are. Carry on with all the lust, Envy, Greed Because no one will stop us. None of that will matter. Not once we rule the world.
Your words drip down your teeth like honey. My words cut you with every breath. Your face falls beneath a halo. My face falls beneath a pair of horns. Your eyes shine like the light I need at the end of my tunnel. My eyes bring tears to yours. You don’t think I notice.
Two cups sit on a table. One reads water, the other reads poison. You know which is which yet you chose to drink poison. You chose to drink me. You drink me like I’m the water and you are dying of thirst. You know that I’ll kill you, that I’ll change you for the worst.
You and poison don’t mix. We know that yet we carry on like we won’t be the end to each other. We continue to hurt and we continue to love. A savage circle of falling in and out of emotions we barely have experience with.
Yet through all of this, you are still the water I need to feel alive. You are the only thing that makes my life bearable. You make the sting feel softer. The cuts don’t run as deep. My poison doesn’t burn so much. It doesn’t hurt as much to love.
