The morning after is the hardest
Snippets Broken memories Are they real or is your mind playing tricks? Sewing together a false account The needle pricks The wrong place Your body jolts You look in anger as it draws blood You realise it really did happen
You feel ashamed Anger Sad Like you could have stopped it If you just did this Did that But you didn’t
You think accepting is the part where The battle is won But your mind gets inventive Anger turns into anticipation Thoughts moving So fast It’s enough To make them Fly out So everybody Can hear them But the needle keeps spinning Round and Round Like there’s no escape
It’s in these moments Where you think you’ve lost control That you realise you own Your body Your mind Your emotions
One small moment in time is Not going to ruin you Today Tomorrow Not ever
And you smile Because your realise Your battle is finally won.
“I look around and I see warriors. I see men and women putting themselves on the line to see us through. Have a look around and into the eyes of the person next to you. That person fought for you and you for them. Warriors! Surrendering was not an option and boy did we give them hell. In the midst of battle, everything went slow for me and I witnessed all of you running, nooo, charging into battle with one thought on your mind. Us. Now, we are here because of those who are not here. The ones who gave their lives. Let’s make sure we continue and strive to be the best we can so that those who gave their lives ,did for a reason. We will remember them by making sure they did not die in vain”
Now we all know I would normally have more to say after a battle for this one is my last. I want to thank you guys for almost giving up your lives for this one. Even though we have lost soldiers today, they will never be forgotten. They have died so we can live in our own peace. Today we have shed blood but now we can go home and shed tears, say hi to your wives, your children and be happy they did not see or go through what we did today. Be safe and live happy. Now go home, I will see some of you again.
While there may be bravery in your eyes, the secret to success lie in the depths of your souls. You were terrified as I. Petrified, knowing you may have been kissing your children goodbye. Scared, thinking your heart beat it’s last. But all of you stand today; you stand a bit taller because you know that you are capable of surviving not only life’s small hurdles, but also life’s toughest challenge. Congratulations. You’ve defeated your demons.
She looked at the field, once green and springy with dew, now stained with blood. Tired, sweaty warriors, once young, innocent classmates stood, some dead, some dying, some kneeling over their fallen friends, but most were standing, chin up, tears of victory streaking their bloody faces while they looked proudly at their newfound queen. Amy raised her chin. ”Students of the Temple, ” she began solemnly, ”The war with Neferet has ended. We have reclaimed our kingdom and can finally restore this once-peaceful dimension. With Neferet and her servants gone, we can focus on restoring the safe sanctuary we call home. With me as your new leader, I will lead you into victory and keep you safe until the throne is passed on.” Amy paused and looked around. She looked at her king. Heath, beaten and battered, the stab wound in his side keeping him from standing, he let out a weak smile. The warriors started cheering and clapping, smiling and celebrating. ”We have our home back!”
