I am asleep, in my Draya’s arms when I am woken by Cyndi Lauper’s young voice singing from my phone. I grab it from my bedside table and checked the caller ID, but didn’t recognize the number. Draya was peering at the phone screen from over my shoulder as well then said “That’s David’s number… best answer it princess if he’s calling it is most likely important.”

BRRR. BRRR.

A harsh buzzingi jolted me awake. I groaned involuntarily and slapped my hand over my loudly vibrating phone. Cracking one eye open slightly, I peeked at the screen.

No caller ID.

Irritated, I hurriedly declined the call and turned my head to sleep.

BRRR. BRRR.

No sooner had I closed my eyes, that the vibrating began again. I jerked my head back and declined again, not curious as ...

“well it all started when i got that call, i knew from the voice who it was, and i had been preparing for hours”

“who was it, what were you grtting ready for?”

“im not your innocent little boy, i go to parties and shit, fuck around, but it never got this bad. i thought we were just gonna go smoke, i didnt know i would see what i did”

“Sorry?” - I said, half still asleep and not really sure what was going on. I thought he just went home after the meal like me.

“I’m not sure on the details but apparently he got jumped. I’ve literally just got the call.”

I heard a ringing sound, awakening me from my light slumber. I hadn’t had sleep for days, and when I finally do, I get woken up. What did I do to deserve this!? I forced my bloodshot eyes open, a groan escaping from my mouth when I tried to sit up, miserably failing. Why did I bring my phone into my room that night? It would have saved me from all the pain to come!
