I am on the floor. No, literally on the floor. I can’t breathe and I’m clutching onto my stomach. My stomach feels like I’ve done a million crunches all at once and my stomach muscles are starting to spasm. But I can’t stop smiling, my cheeks are hurting, I haven’t done this in a while. The strangest noises are escaping my mouth, is something wrong with me? It feels abnormal but I don’t care, i’m so in the moment. Tears begin to gather in the corner of my eyes, then proceed to pour down my face, but I’m not sad in the slightest, I’m actually very happy. Everyone around me seems to be acting this way too, we are all happy and in the moment. We are all laughing.
I was at a concert With my two brothers Before the band came on, There was a comedian opener
The set wasn’t too funny, couple of laughs here and there But there was about to be an unexpected change in the air, After a man with the best laugh I’ve ever heard got everyone rolling, Literally show stopping
More people were picking up the frequency, Causing an infectious case of the giggles for everybody At this point, the confused comedian figured out the riddle They weren’t laughing at her jokes, Instead we were cracking up at this bloke
He was very tall, booming laughter carried across the entire hall I can’t even describe the sound, it was like a deep HUH HUH HUH that I’ve never heard until now, and it did not slow down Just thinking of that moment, Brings me a smile of amusement
The comedian tried to save face, By calling out the laugh, thinking he was a disgrace The crowd was all team tall guy, he simply stole the show, brought the house down like a hurricane
The more she made fun of him, The more he laughed, Which enhanced the roaring laughter, I should have asked for his autograph
We still talk about that legend I hope are paths cross again So I can hear that laugh It was a perfect 10 out of 10!
As if nails scratched on a chalkboard, their vocal cords were being torn to shreds. The shrill and volume of this laugh came out of nowhere. It made rooms quiet, people stare and gasp by the sharp cackle that would emanate through the confined space. They would release the laugh, then gasp for air over and over against. Almost hyperventilating, but could catch enough breath to keep the laugh going. The Wicked Witch of the West would jolt from the sudden boom of laughter.
“Uhm, excuse me?” stifled the man at the podium with the white clerical collar.
“If you need to take a moment outside, please excuse yourself. This is not the time or place.”
This was my aunts first time seeing naked statues anywhere, let alone our uncle’s funeral. She left and eventually met us at the burial and reception.
It began somewhere deep inside her barrell-like chest and emerged stuttering at first- a bit like an old fashioned car in winter that just won’t start. It was a low pitched sound, rasping and croaking that got higher and higher as her enjoyment of the joke grew. By the time the punchline was delivered she was inhaling huge breaths, braying like a donkey and almost choking on her own merriment. Her flushed cheeks were soaked as the tears ran down her face. Soon we were all crying with laughter as she infected us with her joy.
A laugh, what is it? Why is laughing such a special moment? Is it because it bings us joy? Is it because we share it with the people we care About? Laughing is a very Special thing to me, Especially when I can Share it with someone who brings me joy. Whenever I laugh at something, it lightens my mood, it gives me a reason to be happy. To me, to laugh at something is different than laughing at, something. If you laugh at something, it is a short time to bring a little bit of joy to your mood, and something you think is funny. Laughing is a whole different thing. If I find something so funny, I Will laugh histaracally, and I will for a while. When you are laughing with somebody, it turns into a special moment and builds your bond with that person. Laughing just makes vou want to smile and never stop. So no matter what do, never take laughing for granted, because it brings out our personality and character.
Kid Kelly and his High-Kickers skittered into a serviceable version of “Nobody Else But Elsie.” The baby spotlights dazzled over the mirrored ceiling tiles. Beryl hummed along with the song. Faintly, Tony the barker could be heard hollered on the sidewalk below. In a cloud of drugstore cologne, Cherie, Joan, and Mitzi walked around Beryl and took their seats front row center. Beryl gave them a bright smile and Joan threw her a wink. Footsteps stomped up the stairs to the dance hall. Salvadore shouted something in Italian and the rest of the girls headed to the open seats. Behind the red velvet rope each nickel hopper struck a pose. Some were sultry, some looked shy, the punks looked absolutely terrified. Salvadore shouted again. Tickets in hand, the regulars hurried in. Cherie as always was the first picked, followed by Joan and Mitzi. Beryl heavy brown fringe of hair fell over her eyes. She crossed and re-crossed her strong legs to hide the mends in her stockings. The band broke into a Lindy hop. Beryl tapped her lucky shoes. Their rhinestones made Beryl think of diamonds and movie stars. More fish came in circle the taxi dancers. Cherie had already gotten a drink out of a shoe salesman. Beryl turned to Marcella one of the punks in the second row of dancers. “Remember keep your head up youngster,” Beryl said. "it’s just dancing.” “But I have two left feet, BeBe.” Beryl’s head fell back as laughter trumpeted from her belly. Her whole body shook in a riot of sequins and black chiffon. She snorted and wiped tears away. Marcella laughed in response covering her mouth with her hands. Kid Kelly and the High-Kickers slid into “Getting Sentimental.” “Hey smiley how about a twirl on the dance floor,” a tall sailor said.
The sound came on suddenly and in rapid succession. It was startling, like gunshots would be on a quiet night, and yet I knew it wasn’t an evil or terrifying sound but his laugh!
As quickly as the sharp staccato of the laughter escaped his body, he sucked in a raspy lung full of air before letting loose again.
Knowing now, that this sound emanated due to hilarity, I could more easily be moved by his raucous amusement. If I didn’t know what was happening, I might have mistook this sound as a sneeze or a cough. How perplexing that it was his laugh! I started to giggle myself.
His face turned pink and then red and I felt the need to remind him to breathe, as one would tell a child having a tantrum. And even that seemed funny to me, and then I was laughing just as hard as he was.
Yeah, my girlfriend is always my main topic of most of my stories, kind of, okay not kind of. A n y ways…
The funniest part about it all is she barely laughs like , for real.
Yeah, she “heh” and “haha” ‘s a *lot*.
Like a little kinda of quiet sounding laugh.
When she *really* laughs, seriously, it’s sorta like a , quiet chuckle, but she wears a loud and sweet smile when it happens.
Yes, i said her smiles “loud”,
and what i mean is she smiles really big and it’s beautiful to me.
She does smile when laughing other laughs, but not as big. My favorite part though , obviously, is how her laugh sounds of course.
Kind of imagine a kid giggling and having that little snort happen. Along with a little “gyuk”, yeah , hers sounds like that. Like she’s little girl giggling at herself being tickled by the tickle monster. So adorable it is. Adorable is about the only way i can really describe it honestly. i love it.
