Freedom
When she cried to the river
With all she had bundled
And carried all on her own
It cried right back
Saying, “you are not weak but you
Just carry too much on your back
I am a strong river, I can carry
Your load
For I have been here quite long
And my water used to cut
Through the road
So give me your pain,
Sorrow, loss, anger, and more
I don’t care how much it is
Even when the rain starts
To pour”
So she gave it her grief
That she felt from all the things
That she lost
And she gave it all the pain
That she felt every night
The river took it all and said
To her, “you are free, go your way”
And the river dried up and left
Many rocks behind
And the girl was happy, for she knew
That there would be light in the sky
All thanks to the river
