POEM STARTER

Inspired by FreeFly

The Dreadful Silence

Write a poem that could have this as its title or main theme.

The Dreadful Silence

Shuffling feet

Fidgeting hands

Pursed lips

Tired eyes

Two people

One has everything to say

The other doesn’t know how to hear it

Her

Lingering pain

From years of being too much

She learned not to speak it

But her brain didn’t learn to not remind her

Him

Fearful of connection

Of feeling

So he hides his emotions in gin

And hopes laughter is enough

The silence that comforts him

Is killing her.

This is now one of my favorite poems. Thank you very much for writing this! I’m more inspired to write after reading this and I want you to know that I appreciate this greatly. I know it wasn’t written for ,e, because you have no idea who I am, but I will hold this poem in my heart. Thank you, again, and may you keep writing precious stories
