POEM STARTER

Write a poem on the theme of sacrifices.
More Than Enough
Look out for your step-brother
I had always been told
Be there to help him up
When he falls asleep in the snow
Hurry now, or he’ll catch a cold
It’s late at night
As you wrap your scarf around his shoulders
He looks into your big brown eyes
What’s with his new disguise?
Last time I checked we were both the same age
I blinked a couple times and put on my glasses
What I found was shocking
The least bit expected
His black hair turned white
Surely it must be the snow
I wondered to myself
When did he hold such a heavenly glow
He picked up my luggage and led me to the stairs
The lights flickered in the house
In an instant he was already there
Standing at the doorway with his palm outstretched,
“What more could you want?”
His crimson eyes ablaze with fire
Caught me by surprise
His fingertips floated around my cheek like a feather
My cheeks flushed bright red
As I steeled myself for what was about to be said,
“You said you wanted me to be independent,” I took a step back as he leaned forward,”so now that I’ve long been dead the gods granted me immortality because I played their little game, but don’t cry…
you can still look out for me.”
