POEM STARTER
Submitted by pennomoly
Write a heartfelt poem to someone who doesn’t know they had an impact on you, telling them anonymously how they made a difference in your life.
A Realization Too Late
You’ll always be my maybe
The love that could have been
Haven’t seen you in some time now
But it’s like you’ve never left
Your presence makes it brighter
Our humors intertwine
You taught me how to wonder
You let me see you cry
If only times were different
& I didn’t live so blind
I picture endless laughter
A peaceful love so right
We’re living different lives now
Summer only lasts so long
I’ll miss our times together
& wish you hadn’t moved along
We’ve tread the line so gently
Our shadows never touched
I’ve played this game too cautious
Swearing friendship was enough
But you’ll always be my baseline
You’ve set the bar so high
Perhaps the feeling’s mutual
But by now… it’s too late to try
I’m glad u did:) that’s u did pretty good on conveying it!!
Omg this has so much emotion!! I love the way you convey their love!! The last line got me”you set the bar so high” is a good way to end the poem because it leaves a lasting impact on the reader conveying their extreme love❤️
Really appreciate it ❤️ Was trying to convey that “never acted on liking / love” without being too explicit about it - glad it seems to of come across!
I enjoyed writing this one :)
That is such an amazing poem! It’s detailed enough for the reader to be able to feel like they really understand a specific situation but not so detailed that it’s not relatable. This balance makes you have a lot of empathy for the speaker and also reflect on your own life.
Wow , I can’t express how much this feedback means to me. I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts with me, and I’m glad this piece resonated with you! There’s definitely a balance when writing between specificity and relatability, and I’m glad to hear I found a midpoint with this poem <3
Wow that was really good! You said everything so well and it felt so nice to read! Really good job
Thanks Emmy! Glad you enjoyed it!
