Shh, Don't Tell Mother, My Brother
Lying on the bed,
Eyes closed in peace
A low growl grows
He blinks tired eyes open,
Only to see nothings there
He lays back down
The growling comes again
He sits up again
Still, nothings there
Annoyed, he lays down again
No more sound hits his ears
Until morning
When the rooster crows,
A whisper comes from the
other side of the door
'Keep my secret. I killed sister.'
He sits up and stares at the door
Like it's a giant bear
Now, lost in the fog
Alone in the deep
Bound by a promise
That he couldn't keep,
He stumbled out of bed
And straight for breakfast
