When I Look In The Mirror
„There you are.“, I say as I look in the mirror and see the monster that I am.
„You greet me like a friend.“, the monster smirks at me and a glimpse of irritation flickers in his golden eyes.
„What else could you be?“, I ask in a hopeless voice. I lift my hand and tap my fingers on the mirrorglas and so does he.
„Well, everything else. _Friend_ was the least I could‘ve ever expect you to say. What about enemy, dark side, secret, such things?“
„If I think of you like that, I realize how sad it is that I‘m trapped with you.“, I say as my focus lays on our hands meeting in the mirror.
„Trapped with me? Well _that‘s_ sad.“
„No, that‘s the truth. What would you say, what we are?“, my eyes flicker back to his.
„We‘re bound together, that sounds way nicer, don‘t you think?“
I sigh.
„Ok, enough of the depressed talk, we have work to do.“, he turns to the side and holds his arm out to me, and so do I, „Shall we?“
I give him a tortured look before I free me from his movement and grab his arm. In seconds I‘m pulled through the glas. I am the monster, I‘ve always been. And now it’s time to feed it.
The hunger growls in me. For a short second pity drags me down, I don‘t want to kill people to still this monstrous hunger, but what a choise do I have? I push the thoughts away and begin the nightly walk to the village to choose the victims of the night.
