My eyes are open.

Today is the day.

For healing I am hoping,

For I am no longer afraid.

Today I awoke with fresh eyes

To a life for which I had yearned

And to my surprise

One that I didn’t have to earn.

Eyes bright at the start of a new day

Old days behind me

As I find my new way

To the place where I’m free.
