STORY STARTER
Write a scene where a character confesses their (unreturned) love for another.
Unrequited
“Hey, Silas?” I mutter, fidgeting with my hands, looking at the ground.
Looking at me with those beautiful eyes, he speaks, “mhm?”
I hesitate, my head winding and weaving, trying to come up with a way to say this without sounding like a complete creep, “I’ve got something to tell you.”
“Fire away.”
I look at his expectant expression… his blonde hair, tanned skin, freckles. My heart was fluttering. I shove my hands in my pockets to hide their trembling.
“I think I have fallen in love with you…”
He freezes, tensing up, “wh-what did you just say?”
That was _not _the reaction I was hoping for, “I think I have a crush on you.” I murmur, my voice shaking now.
The confession hangs in the air. The silence was almost palpable, blocking my senses and drowning out any other background noise.
Taking a while to process the information, Silas remains frozen on the spot, staring at me with incredulous eyes. Then he averts his gaze, “oh… I didn’t know you felt that way.” He says, quietly. His eyes still show shock, but something else… disgust.
My heart shatters when I saw that. My face falls.
“I’m sorry… I probably gross you out.” I hurriedly get up, looking away and swallowing, “please don’t hate me…”
He just shakes his head, still in shock. I hurry out of the room, tears running down my face. That was my one chance and I screwed it up. My one chance for love.
_Note: I am not particularly happy with this, I struggle with these kind of interactions. Can I have some feedback to help improve please?_
