POEM STARTER

The Beauty of Being Asleep
Write a poem which could have this as its title.
Sleeping, Sleeping..
From the moment my eyelids close,
I’m embraced by nighttime shadows;
They regain their leisured heart beats,
The second I’m snug in my sheets.
Their touch loosens my woes with ease,
Soothing my senses like a breeze-
It’s like they put a spell on me,
That imposes sweet peace on thee.
My dreams play like a hazy film,
About something neat, odd or grim,
All my sorrows are hidden deep,
I pray to rest, my soul to keep.
I feel like I’m one of the stars,
I feel the doze healing my scars,
Me and the shadows want no end,
Yet dreams and real life cannot blend.
I’m so refreshed when wake has called,
Like I’ve rinsed in a waterfall;
I can hardly wait to nap tonight,
To rest and float in calm delight.
