POEM STARTER
Write a poem using multiple rhetorical questions, where the narrator is questioning their own judgement or viewpoint.
You could use the questions to make the reader think, or to show how doubtful the narrator is of their own stance.
Why Is It?
(Not written by me, but by my friend Brooke, she wanted me to share this with the world so I did, enjoy)
Why?
Why is it that people think your not smart until your old
Why is it that people say you have to be popular to be bold
Why is it that people tell you not to worry about how you look
And tell you not to judge the cover of a book
Yet if your not smart, fun or cool
They treat you like and ignorant fool
And even if your pretty or fun
And you have a bright mind that shines like the sun
They think you to be TO bold TO smart TO pretty TO energetic
They are jealous and it is you they pick
To exclude, to make fun, to make you feel down
It is then that you feel as tho you should leave the town
WHY? WHY? WHY? Its all I want to know
Why is no one happy, and free to grow
Why do we judge and stare
Why do people judge us and act like a poked bear
Why are we mean to our friends that we love
Why do we act like we're perfect as a dove
Can't we all just be nice for one minute?!
But no, because we all feel the need to win it!
But life is not but a game to be won!
Its a gift and we only get one
Its not about being the most funny, pretty, smart, or cool
Why are we all being so stupid, like a fool
Life is a blessing a gift a grace, from the perfect being above
He's a spirit a father a son, in the form of a beautiful dove
