The Diamond Who Danced With A Pig

Love, you’re a diamond

and I was a pig

you shone in my eyes

and I smiled so big

I said ‘marry me Diamond

and we’ll have six kids

I’ll bring home the bacon

and fill up the fridge

and I’ll love you forever

through thick and the thin’

Now I can’t sleep a wink,

baby it’s two AM

‘cause today you were

saying you’re feeling so dim

we’ve a fridge full of bacon

but you’ve lost your shine

and I’m hating myself

because I made you mine

and I toss and I turn

in my mud and my grime

wishing that pigs

could just travel through time

You were the diamond

who danced with a pig

and you showed all your light

and I smiled so big

this pig flew away

you shone and you shone

prayed and you prayed

that your pig might come home

seven times seven

you hoped and you hoped

now I can’t sleep a wink

my love it’s 2 AM

‘cause I shine like a diamond

and you’re feeling so dimmed

if I could take back

all my hell and my sin

all things that I’ve done

and the knife that I’ve been

would you glow like the Son

would you yet shine and grin?

now I’m bright as a diamond

but can’t stop the bleeding

I know Jesus hears

all my pleading and pleading

I can’t take the tears

and you can’t take the pain

if pigs could express

all their guilt and their shame

could a diamond shine just the same?

you’ve been a diamond

and I’ve been a whore

and you’ve loved me forever

you’ve love me the more

and I can’t sleep a wink

baby it’s 2AM

and I’m telling my Lord

that I’m sick of my sin

I want you to heal

and I want you to know

I would take it all back

I would give up my soul

my love please shine through to me

you’re all I see
