WRITING OBSTACLE

If silence had a scent, it would smell like...

Nothing

If silence had a scent, it would smell like nothingness.

You misunderstand me.

It would not merely smell like nothing.

You would smell an absence.

Your brain would try fill that abyss,

it would pick through your memory, through every other scent.

It would try to find a match for the nothing.

Maybe your brain would make it smell like lavender

Maybe it would go to a field,

and steal the smell of manure.

But you still can’t figure it out,

_Why is nothing working?_ You’ll ask yourself.

But the problem is not the nothing.

It is the fact you tried to change it.

Sometimes we need to learn to let go of the control.

And to accept things as they are.
