POEM STARTER

Inspired by Niki

Create a poem set on an empty beach, where you are left at peace with your thoughts.

Salt

Sea Saltly air A calm overhead And filling you completely You went here for a reason But you’ve decided to wait To not let the sea have you Not on a beautiful night like this You see an empty can And reach over to pick it up Humans, the foul creatures Who filth the world with their greed You wish that you weren’t as such You wish you could become salt in the air Turning around, you see a flash of light You hear someone call your name But you ignore it Striding over to the shore Closer and closer To the thick, salty waves This world is dying Everyone knows it, But no one is going to do anything Even if one does try, no one can overpower the human greed The shouting becomes louder You hear multiple voices this time Each accompanied by a bright, Bright light Closer and closer To the waves, the smothering waves You know you are greedy You know you are needy Jealousy, Hatred, Depression It all was in you, you were made of it You wanted this pain to be over To actually do something Good, helpful for once The world deserves much better Closer and closer Knee high with the thick waves You continue your descent Walking quicker, as you can When you hear a scream They’ve found you No, you think, no I shall not return to Harm the world any longer I shall surrender to the sea You splutter as cold water fills your lungs Thick, salty waves You can’t hear anything now It’s silent **Muted** ** Quiet ** You know soon… **You will be part of the salt. You will be the salt.** *** (Sorry for the dark tone, just got reminded of a thing I read. Thanks for reading and have a good day.)
