WRITING OBSTACLE
Write a description of a seaside setting, focusing strongly on the sense of smell.
Not just the salty sea; what else might evoke the sense of smell here?

I like this, it’s different but entirely realistic. Funny too. 🙂 good job!
You know, I’ve never really thought about ocean breeze candles that way. I’ve had air spray with that same scent and I really couldn’t tell you what it smells like. Huh! You’ve got me thinking!
Here’s my feedback: “I smell seaweed baking in the noon sun, flies around my ankles.” As one sentence this means you smell both seaweed and flies. Unless you’ve got a super sniffer, you may need to attach a separate sense to the flies. You feel them, perhaps? Lastly, you could punch up your imagery simply by having your protagonist see the rotting seagull. It would be a great place to dive into description annnnnd would give a stronger reason for your protagonist to walk (away maybe) in the wet sand. Just some ideas!
“A volleyball floating in the foamy surf” is so specific and wonderful, I think you could add more like this to the rest of the story!
