North of Midnite Chapter 6 (Part 2)
‘I didn’t bring him back *Witch*’, Alastair bore his teeth, ‘ so why would you fucking care?’
Cass eye’s fluttered back, curling her forefinger into her palm, tendrils of blue magic wrapped around her knuckle and wrist. ‘You know who did though...’, she stated between ragged breaths, the magic started to pulse, finding the wound in her palm, Cass pressed her eyes closed. the wound closed, leaving a scarred line, opening her eyes she looked around quickly at Alex and Carl. ’Something came back through with him…’, Alastair sighed. ‘...the boy?’ Carl growled.
‘...no, something brought through to *deal* with the humans’, Alex finished. The rest looked over at her. Joseph padded over to Carl and nuzzled his undead foot. The air turned cold again, Jo lets out a soft meow and Alastair sunk through the cement floor like it was quicksand. ‘i need to get back to the office’, stated Alex as she made for the exit, ‘i suggest you both do the same’.
Cass massaged her palm, Joseph returned to her side, turning to Carl as he shuffled with only one foot towards the exit, ‘It will only get worse’, She began. ‘I know’, he chortled, ‘Carl not care’. Cass did not have the energy to argue with him and knew deep down that if Joseph was not here she would feel exactly the same. That wasn’t the case though and hoping with time he realised he had a place in this world because of the humans not despite them.
Carl’s stumpy walk against polished the concrete, meant that this meeting was over, Cass scoffed and lifted up Joseph who had somehow held on Carls un-dead foot, ‘Give me that’, she said. He dropped it on the floor. ‘He is not going to need it is he’.
