POEM STARTER

'I don't want to stick out like a weed in a field of wildflowers.'

Use this sentence to inspire a poem or short scene.

I’d Rather

I brush my hair every morning. Brush my teeth. Brush the floor. Brush the cat hairs off my clothes. Brush the make up on my face.

Why?

I went through a phase when I was a child. I refused to take showers. My mama said, keep this up and you’ll be like a weed. My papa added, a weed in a field of wildflowers.

I don’t take drugs, I don’t eat junk food, I don’t smoke, I don’t drink, I don’t get in fights. Even though everyone else does.

Because I want to be more than a weed in a field of weeds or a flower in a field of wild flowers or a weed in a field of wildflowers, I’d rather be a flower in a field of weeds.
