It wasn't until they heard their own screaming that they were brought back to reality. The reality they were quickly reminded of when they finally opened up their eyes.

Their vision blurred by all the tears shed finally coming into focus as a loud "bang!" echoed in the distance of the dark cavern they had just fallen into. it was too dark to make out their surroundings, but it wasn't the darkness that they found unsettling. It was the stillness in the air that scared them.

Taking their time to sit-up and assess their injuries they discovered that their fall was broken by not only their gear but by the soft squishy ground. Where are they? One second they’re being chased by a dark figure in the woods while on a hike and the next free falling into a cavern.

Who was chasing them and why were they being chased? Another loud “bang!” quickly changed their train of thought. The banging sounded closer this time. Their safety coming close to mind.

They begin to shuffle around through their bag in search of their flashlight. They found their phone 1st and were thankful they spent the extra cash for the better phone case because their phone survived the fall.
