POEM STARTER
Walking to work one day, staring off into the clouds, the sky starts to fracture in front of your eyes...
Write a poem based on this scene.
Reality
I am losing my grip on reality
Everything is a
Lie
But every lie is based in
Truth
And every truth is made from
Reality
Now reality is

Keep walking
Almost at the bus stop
Wait.
You don’t take the bus
You’ve never taken the bus before
WHERE AM-
“Where’s your mind?”
Your mother asks you
On the way to school
You’ve been listening to something
It’s not the noise blaring through your ear buds
You’ve been listening to something
That you can only hear when the world is drowned out
In school you stare at the classroom walls
Can’t focus
Losing her grip
Not putting in the best effort
Trying not to ignore her best friend
But the anxiety she feels when she sees her
Chokes out any words she might want to say
Paper is littered on the ground
The kids are in a rebellion
Anxiety’s chokehold
Doesn’t compare
To every billionaire’s chokehold
On my country
But the country has split
All the kids are spent
Still walking
It’s nighttime now
How did it become night?
You were just in first period
Weren’t you?
You are good at everything you do
But you can’t find the motivation to
Do it.
REMEMBER CANT YOU-
Shit
You started walking
With no end in sight
No idea where you were going
Can’t remember why you would-
Burnout
That’s what they call it
BURNOUT
FOR TWO FUCKING YEARS
G i f t e d
They call it
Burdened
We all know
Must I explain?
Fuck.
It’s getting bad
Again
The sound you’ve been hearing
A low buzz
Of incessant
Laughter.
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA-
