The Pauper

I’m wearing purple

But I don’t feel like royalty

Cause that would mean people, far and wide

Would know me and love me

And gather to hear me speak

Purple would mean

They’d come from all corners of the land

They’d gawk and pray and wish

That they could stay in my presence

Purple would mean

My words would come with ease

My charisma would contain the crowds

And they would leave stunned, inspired by my ideas

I’m faking it when I wear purple

The color has no magic over me

I am not the royalty you long for

I am not capable of grandeur

I have no crown

I have no platform with which to change

I have no followers

I am only me

Creating for only me
