He Chased The Sun

Father, father, look at the sky!

The sun and the water, as I fly so high!

I see it my boy, it is exquisite

We’re finally free, so don’t fly too high

I can’t lose you now, I can’t watch you die

Yes, father, I won’t fly too high

I’ll only chase the sun, it’s beautiful,

Oh my! Looks at its rays!

As they shine so bright!

You can’t ever see this, in the nights on Crete

I know my boy, it’s very fair

And just look at the wind,

Tasoling your hair

Haha, I know! It flys in my face

The strands whip by, as if in a race!

Oh, look at the sun!

So wonderful and bright!

I’ll fly just a bit higher, it’ll be alright

No, my son, please do not go

The beeswax will melt, and down you’ll go

Don’t worry father, it hasn’t melted yet

Just a bit further,

The suns rays I will get!

Please come down further, it’s still beautiful here

You can catch the suns rays,

Safely from here!

Just a bit further…

Oh, what a sight!

It’s so very beautiful, it feels just right!

Oh, what’s that? Melting down my back?

No! Icarus! Please come down!

Your wings are melting, my poor little boy!

Father, it’s alright.

I’m happy right here.

I’ve seen the sun and seen what I fear

It’s not so bad, really it’s not

I’ll just float into the ocean, and then I’ll float on

Please, my boy!

Don’t leave me now

We’ve just been freed, and now your falling down!

You’ve reatched the ocean

And tumbled in the waters

Your death is upon us

And I can’t even bring tiu flowers
