we would be sitting at scoops

eating strawberry swirled ice cream

at that same picnic table

with that same silly smile

we would be at your house

on your swing set

staring out at the fields

or maybe at the stars

we would be in your back yard

climbing up that tree

collecting our bowl of berries

or in my yard

doing the same

we’d be sitting in your room

however it looks now

we’d be playing those songs

maybe singing along

staring at our shoes

or gossiping about our old friends
