Aneurysm

Uninvited memories clog my brain,

Like crimson clots of blood.

I try to sift through them,

Try to pluck the filth from the pile.

But they all clump together,

Wraparound one another like tendrils,

Like sopping wet hair in a drain.

I wretch, and I’m suddenly choking.

An aneurysm ruptures,

Blood trickles from my ears,

I open my mouth to scream…

But you don’t hear a thing.
