Before I Met You

Before I met you,

I hated you:

I wanted a cat,

Or a dog,

Not an oversized rat,

Drawn wrong.

Big red eyes,

Messy white fur.

Suddenly,

I noticed I wanted to get near,

Closer to you.

I saw from a different point of view,

A different perspective,

All that hate: I left it,

I love you,

I said it.

Before I met you,

I hated you,

Big red eyes now dull,

And lifeless.

See how cruel life is.
