the accident
I regret to inform you
Of your family’s passing
They wondered and sent their well wishes
But upon their last hour
They wished you were there to send your prayers
Tears were shed
On this dark day
Rain covered the windows
And the family’s wails screamed
Heartbreak
Black brought down the mood
And daisies filled vases
Everyone sobbed
All along there were
Tear streaked faces
The littlest girl
Was remember fondly
Stories were shared
And they grieved the brother driving recklessly
The car had fallen
Off the side of the cliff
They were heading on vacation
A road trip
Before they left
They told me to let you know
The loved you
And on the road
That they would call you
And send you pictures
Make sure you were included in their
Grand adventure
But alas,
It became lucky you didn’t go
Do you wish to send them a letter
Finally visit your family back home?
You thought yourself
Too high and mighty
Because you made it out of that small town
And worked your way up
Into the big city
The still remembered you,
Bragged anytime someone came by
Saying,
“You know my daughter, my prize?”
“She’s a big time actor, lives in NYC”
“Look at this cover, she’s on the front page of the Vogue magazine!”
And they still prayed for you
Every time they went to church
Always saved a seat for you at
Christmas dinner
Hoping you’d return
They never held any grudge
Never any anger
Only wished the best for their
Child,
Their beautiful daughter.
Visit their grave, love
You’ll regret it if you don’t
Trust me love
Go and find closure
So you can enjoy the next chapter.
