The world out there

Is busy

Moving on

They don’t seem to notice

That time has stopped

For me.

A quick word, “I’m sorry.”

And then they go back

To their typical chat

Dental visits, the weather,

Work, school, whatever.

And then you came

You stood beside me

Through the pain

Your arm around me

You stayed until

I was whole again

Loving words

I wouldn’t have heard

You were there

That’s all I care.

You didn’t do anything

But I want to thank you

For nothing that you did

But that time stopped for you, too.
