POEM STARTER
‘Bees offer honey far more readily than they sting.’
Write a poem that begins with this line. What themes can this metaphor reflect?
Sweet Until You’re Not
Bees offer honey
Far more readily
Than they sting.
I’ll offer my love
Far more readily
Than my hate.
The honey bees give us,
It’s quite a treat,
Don’t you know?
The love I could give you
Would last for years,
Never losing its spark.
Though bees can be deadly,
Their stings hurt real bad,
But it’s all in self-defense.
I too, can be deadly,
If you’re toxic or dishonest,
But it’s to shield myself.
Bees offer honey,
I offer love.
Bees can sting,
I can damage.
I am like a bee,
I’ll be sweet
Until you’re not.
