Sarah was a perfect girl. Perfect GPA, High Standards, Reached her goals and was never let down. She sat down at her desk flipping open her computer. Going into her emails she saw the one she was looking for. Her harvard acceptance email. She was happy and already knew she would be accepted. She opened the email with tears of joy. She was so proud of herself, proud she made it this far.
Dear Ms. Lawrence, We regret to inform you that-
Sarah didn’t make it to harvard. Sadness filled her body. Anger took over. Disappointment was all she could feel.
My father past away in early October, he was my rock. The reason I kept going in life. When he passed away my world crumbled. It had now been 4 weeks since he passed away. I stayed in bed everyday watching television. Whenever he came home from work we would watch our favorite show, Full House. Our favorite character was Jessie. I haven’t watched it since his passing though, on this particular Friday, I decided to watch it. As I switched to the channel this episode had everyone listing what they were thankful for, everyone was brought together as a family I knew what I was thankful for, and that was my father. As I watched the television closer I saw it go blurry. Sitting up to fix it I heard of voice coming from the television, everything became clear and the camera zoomed in on Uncle Jessie. He looked at the camera, “I miss you too.” He said. All went blurry once again. I put my hands toward the glass, this couldn’t be true.
Me and my book club girls gathered every Friday to discuss the weekly book. Our group involved, Mary, Julia, Libby, Kendra, Elsi, Emmy and me, Darla. Mary being the head of the group. This weeks book was, “When no one is watching.” A horror book which was a genre which we all enjoyed. The interesting plot twists, insane side effects due to the plot was what drew me to this genre. “What do we all think of this book?” Mary said smiling. As it went down from girl to girl listing what we had thought about the book they got to me. “Darla what do you think?” Mary snipped at me. I looked at all of the girls, they had their eyes on me. “I think this book is about psychology, how to trick people’s minds into thinking you could trust them.” I replied smiling at each and every one of the girls. “Very well, I think we can all finish up for today!” Mary smiled. As we all started packing up Emmy ran up to me. “You think you know what you’re doing but you don’t.” She told me. “I have no idea what you’re talking about?” I told her. My voice breaking knowing I most certainly did know what she was talking about. She knew my plan, she knew why I was here, in this book club. That’s when the lights went out, everything was silent and still. “When no one is watching.” A voice said.
