You’ve changed me I wasn’t expecting it But you did Made me look at myself differently Made me see that maybe I’m not who I think I am And maybe I’m not Maybe I’m not what I’ve told people Maybe I’m different I was afraid But you made me see That I don’t have to be That I don’t have to be embarrassed To be Who I Am
She tried not to but she cried She cried as she sung to her brother She cried as she kissed her sister She cried when she left her father She tried not to but she did She had to go she knew that But she still cried She cried because it hurt Because she was aching from the sadness She tried not to but she cried And she realized that all love ever did was hurt And so she cried under that willow tree
As she said goodbye I knew right then That I would never see her again So I whispered in her ear Remember me And she understood, yes The tears in her eyes held so much pain Not just because of me But because for the one she loved I held the key So as she went, I said Be a good girl And as she looked back One more time I could tell that she knew it was about time For me To leave
Today was just like any other day. I went to work at my job as a journalist. My boss handed out the assignments and said that she wanted them by 2:00. Just like I usually do, I went down to lunch at 12:00. While I was carrying my lunch back to my desk I tripped. As I fell, my food fell out of my hands, and I expected to fall to the ground too, but someone caught me. I looked up and saw that it was a guy I worked with. He smiled and helped me up. I salvaged what I could from my lunch, and walked to the elevator. We both had to go to the same floor so he pushed the button. When the doors closed I suddenly felt something coming up. Panic. “Not again”, I thought. My breath was coming quicker now. My coworker asked me if I was okay, but I didn’t hear him. All I could hear was the screaming. My mom and dad. The day they died. I was stuck, stuck again in that car. Stuck between the seats. Blood was everywhere. Sirens, flashing lights. I was sitting on the floor of the elevator. My coworker was holding me. The doors opened and he called for help. Sirens again. Just like that night. My coworker stayed with me the whole time. When the paramedics had finally calmed me down, my coworker drove me home. When I had finally assured him that I was okay, he left. The next day was Saturday so I didn’t go to work. On Monday, when I did, my coworker gave me his phone number and said, “dinner tonight”? “Yes” I said. And that was that.
My name is Gill. I am a villain. I enjoy creating chaos. Watching people scream at the horrors unfolding in front of them. The police try to catch me, but I’m always to quick for me. People have named me the Magician due to the fact that I can get in and out without a trace. I prefer to make mayhem, though. I like to watch people panic, and run. I like to watch people trample each other. It’s my revenge on this city, and it is glorious.
My name is Dream. At least, that’s what the people in my city call me. No one knows my true identity. I like it like that. I work alone. I am an alien. When I was 14 years old, my home planet died. My parents, like many of the other parents on my planet sent me away. We were all supposed to be sent to our neighboring planet, but my pod got hit by an asteroid and knocked off course. I landed on this planet. Now I am earth’s protector. I look like a human, so I was able to fit into normal human life. The closest thing I have to family are my friends. Even though I am able to fit into normal human life I still feel left out sometimes. My powers give me the ability to see how people feel. They also give me loads of other abilities including, teleportation, flying, and super strength. The humans have brought me nothing but kindness, so I return the favor by protecting them. I am still afraid, though, that a human might at some point figure out who I am. I am afraid they won’t like me for how different I am. I have thought of telling my friends before, but I decided against it. I care about my friends and I want to make sure I don’t lose them. My friends know me as Stella Brown. That was my name on my planet. On my planet, I had never wanted to be a warrior. I never thought I would be. On this planet, I own my own private investigations office. I help people who the police can’t. My friend, Mike helps me with cases sometimes. Mike had made his feelings clear. He loves me. I do love him, but I don’t want to tell him the truth. That I am Dream, so I tell him that I don’t love him. It breaks my heart every time. So today I’m going to tell him. …
We’ve finished game night at my house and everyone is leaving. I ask Mike to stay. When everyone is gone, I tell him to sit down. I walk into my bedroom and take my clothes off, so that the suit underneath is visible. I slowly put the mask on, and walk into the living room. When Mike sees me his eyes get wide. “Your dream!” He exclaims. “I’m so sorry I lied to you”, I said. “All those things I forgot to do, all those last minute dates”. “Yes”, I said, “those were lies. “Why are you telling me this now”, he said. “Because, Mike, that’s not the only thing I’m lying about. All those times you told me you loved me and I said I didn’t love you back. It broke my heart every single time!” I got closer to him until we were almost touching. I slowly pulled off my mask, and I leaned in closer. He did too. All of the sudden, the TV that I had forgotten to turn off showed reports of a theft at the bank. I quickly put my mask on and said,”I have to go”. I ran and flew out of the open window to where the robbery was taking place. I went inside, ready to get this over with. The robbers had guns, but they had no effect on me. I approached and knocked the first guy out, when all of a sudden I felt pain. I have felt pain before, but never like this. It was agony. I fell to the ground and reached up to my shoulder where a knife was sticking out. No knife had ever pierced my skin. Something on the knife had weakened me. I tried to stand up, but the pain was too much. I was finally able to stand, but I was fighting the blackness at the corner of my eyes from taking over. I was only barely aware that the robbers were escaping. I heard police cars in the distance, and then it was too much to fight and everything went black. The last thing I heard was an ambulance siren coming this way.
…
I woke up just a few minutes later in an ambulance. My mask was still on, and I could tell that the ambulance wasn’t moving. I heard someone yell, she’s awake, and suddenly I realized what was going on. I felt someone try to take my mask off, but pulled away. I quickly stood up, my vision still blurry, and flew away. I flew to my friends house. I knew that she would be able to fix me. I flew and knocked on her window. She was watching TV on the couch, and quickly got up to open the window. I fell into her house and she said, “Dream?”. “No”, I said, “Stella”, and I took off my mask. Her eyes got wide, and they got even wider at the knife in my shoulder. “We need to get that out”, she said. She ran into the other room and grabbed an armload of towels, a bottle of peroxide, and a whole box of gauze bandages. She put her hand on the knife and said “this is going to really hurt”, and pulled. I screamed, and then everything went black. When I woke up I had my mask on. I looked around and saw that all of my friends were sitting in the living room. I looked at my friend, and she whispered, “it’s your secret to tell”. I looked over at Mike and he nodded. “I have something to tell you all”, I said. I pulled off my mask for the third time today and said, “I am Dream”.
…
After we were done, I invite Mike over to my house. “ We’re free”, I said. “Yes”, he said. I walked closer to him and took off my mask. I leaned forward and my lips touched his, and it was the best feeling in the world.
The world was in danger. Sophie knew that her existence might end. Time was of the essence. She quickly everything she could into the metal box the boy she loved had given her right before he died. She blinked away the tears as she quickly put everything from Romeo and Juliet, to her high school history book. Even if she was killed, the people of the future had to know of the past. She also put in random objects from her house. When she was done, she ran outside with a shovel, and spent the rest of the night digging a hole for the metal box. She worked quickly. The fate of the future depended on it.
One small mistake, one little mistake, and I’m dangling upside down from the ceiling. Just six hours ago I was at home minding my own business, finishing my book. When I was done with it, I decided to do a stupid thing and go inside my Father’s restricted study. Instead of waiting for him I walked in their and put my book on the shelf. I had been wanting to look in there for a long time, but stopped myself at warnings from father about getting grounded if I went in there. While I was in their, I saw a book on the shelf that I loved. Narnia. I grabbed it intending to pull it off the shelf, but the book wouldn’t come all the way out. I pulled on it harder and suddenly their was a click and the book case creaked open. The books started crashing down. One hit me on the head and I fell to the ground. Suddenly, the books got a hazy golden glow. They stopped in mid-air. It was like some sort of magic. That’s when I realized, it was magic! I tentatively pulled open the book shelf open and perked inside. What I saw was crazy! Their was a book inside a little room behind the book shelf. The book was floating, and the pages were glowing the same shade of gold as the books, but bright. So bright it hurt. Me, being the reader I was walked over to the book and reached out my hand. The second my fingers made contact, everything disappeared. The little wooden room around me. The floor under my feet. Even the book. I was falling into a hole. I tried to scream but no sound came out. I’m dyeing I thought, which was my last conscious thought before suddenly I wasn’t falling into nothingness anymore. I was falling into solid ground. I tried to scream, and this time I could. I screamed until I hit the ground. Pain, then darkness. I woke up later to excruciating pain. I jerked up, crying out in pain. Suddenly, someone put their hands on my shoulders easing me back down onto my back. It was then that I realized that I was laying in a bed. The person next to me was a man. He was young, probably in his late twenties. He spoke softly to me, telling me that everything was going to be okay. His voice soothed me and I felt my heart rate slow down. When he saw that I was calm, he started asking me questions. I answered all of them truthfully, even though I had just met him. He didn’t seem surprised at all about the book. He did seem concerned, though. Suddenly, the door flew open, and a woman came bounding into the room. She looked about as old as he was. She was slim with her hair pulled up with a ribbon. He greeted her with a kiss, so I assumed that they were married. She looked over at her husband, surprised when she saw me. He filled her in on the whole story. When he was done, she came over and talked to me. She told me that she had some bad news. She told me that I would be stuck in this strange world for five years. The circumstances for a portal to open back to earth only happened once every five years, and even worse their was a bounty for humans in this kingdom. They only spared humans who were born in the kingdom. This meant that for five years I would have to somehow evade a whole hoard of soldiers and spies, and to make matters worse I also had to figure out this strange new world. I was still intently worrying about my problems when their was a knock on the door. The woman, who was still sitting next to me suddenly went pale, which made me suspect that whoever was at the door was probably not really nice. The man ran over and covered all of the windows. He quickly picked me up and brought me over to the wardrobe set me inside, warning me to be quiet. I leaned up against the side inside so that I didn’t fall. By now the person at the door was banging on it and warning us that if we didn’t open the door they would kick it in. I watched through a key hole in the wardrobe as the man opened the door and talked to the soldiers. He pretended like he was finishing putting his belt on and said, “just finishing up something real quick”. I cringed thinking of what he was using as an excuse. The soldier took a second to do the same thing, and then said, “we have reason to believe that you are harboring a human fugitive, and we would like to inspect your house. The man’s face went pale but he opened the door to let the soldiers in. It didn’t take them long to find me. The soldier that had knocked on the door opened the wardrobe, and suddenly what he was looking for fell right into his lap. Like literally fell on top of him. I cried out in pain as I hit the floor. He quickly stood up, and picked me up roughly. The pain brought tears to my eyes. “Better bring her to a healer”, he said,” no need for her to suffer more than she has to. They brought me outside and threw me in a cage in the back of the wagon. The couple ran outside, begging them not to take me. The soldiers got in the wagon and we started to move. When they got me to the castle, the healer cured me, and they hung me from the ceiling over a cat of boiling liquid. I closed my eyes and thought, this is the end.
You know today I asked someone, could pigs fly? You know what they said, yes, but only when fish can walk. Of all the ridiculous things to say.
Today I asked someone if fish could walk. You know what they said, yes but only when turkeys quack. What kind of answer is that.
Today I asked someone if fish could walk. You know what they said, yes but only when snakes grow legs. I am getting really tired of these ridiculous answers.
You’d have to be and absolute fool to believe all of that!
Summer is here The time has come To face the fierceness of the hot dome The sun is there
It brightens the sky It wakes us up at the crack of dawn With little slivers creeping across the lawn It tells us that it’s time to get up and eat summer pie
The day ends The sun goes down The sun bending across the ground
The last slivers flowing across the lawn like an evening gown The sunset watched without a sound And finally the sun is down
