⚠️TW: Violence against children and blood⚠️
BAM
I hear a shotgun out in the distance. The class freezes. We look around in a daze while Mr. Valentine is hastily locking the door with some mechanism and doing all of his training for when this would happen.
"Everything will be okay. You guys are safe. Go to my cabinets and grab textbooks. Then go to the corner where my desk is and stay quiet." Mr. Valentine says in a hushed voice, but still loud enough to where we could hear. I could tell he was stressed. We all were.
We did as we were told and stayed quiet while doing so. Some people were crying, some people were confessing things, and some were texting loved ones and saying their goodbyes. It was a lot to handle with so much going on.
I look towards our teacher and see him doing something odd. He was looking out the window on our door, which was supposed to be covered, as if looking for something. I though maybe he was looking for the shooter, but then I looked at his fingers and saw him counting. 5...4...3...what would happen when he gets to the last number? 2...my heart starts racing. Once his fingers hit 1, the glass shatters. Screams echo through the halls. I look back at Mr. Valentine to see if he got shot, but I saw something else. He was tossed a gun through the shattered glass. I had a feeling what was coming next.
He turned to us with a sorrowful face. "I'm sorry kids...I have to." All of us look at him with suprise, anger, but mostly fear that he would actually fire his weapon.
"It's just...this school has done nothing but torture me! They say things will get better but they never do! Your principal harasses her employees every day! Don't you see I have to do this? That this school needs to be taught a lesson?" He says, gun still in hand ready to fire at the innocent lives infront of him.
This makes me realize, the gunshot wasn't a shooter ready to take his first victims, but a distraction for the real shooter to take charge. Mr. Valentine, my math teacher, was the school shooter all along.
"You don't have to do this! Can't you just quite?!" I scream out, trying to save my life and others.
"It's not that easy Jonathan! I would say you'll get it when your older, but I don't think you will make it to that point. I'm sorry." A shot is fired. We all scram. A couple guys go out the window. I go to follow, but see some girls who are to scared to jump. I decide to help them.
I help them out, one by one, as I hear our classmates behind us, screaming. Once the last one is on the ground and safe, I go to jump. I was too late.
I feel a sharp pain in my chest. I put my hand where it hurts, pull my hand up to my face, and all I see is blood.
You want to know the most embarrassing thing that has happened to me? Well, last week me and my husband Gary were walking down the street with our dog and we see this woman walking in our direction. I thought she was going to walk past us and keep going, but guess what, she stopped.
"Hey Shelby! I haven't seen you in so long!" I had no clue who this woman is. I still don't really. Now, I was trying to ask questions for this girl's identity.
"Oh hey! It's a small world isn't it? I can't remember the last time I saw you...remind me please!" I looked at Gary to see if he knew who this woman was, and he SHRUGGED. I knew this was already going downhill, but carried on.
She gasped liked I insulted her somehow and said "Your wedding of course! I mean it has been a while so I get it...maybe! How have you been Gary?" and her and Gary carried on the conversation while I stood there like an idiot.
I mean I was going through my brain files trying to figure out who this lady is! I was putting in so much brain power for her. She should be honored how much work I did trying to find out this girl's name. Suddenly, I was snapped back into reality when she said "Well I have to go. I hope we can get together sometime just to chat! Bye you guys!"
"Bye Sandra!" Gary said. He knew her name the whole time. I couldn't BELIEVE this man. He made me look like an absolute doofus when he knew who this lady was.
I hit his arm and said "You knew her?! Who was that?" and apparently that was his ex from highschool. How was I supposed to know that?!
Screams could be heard across the town. Mrs. Norris was in town this Halloween, and she is looking for blood. Two years ago on Halloween, some kids can by her house who were trick or treating. She gave them all raisins instead of candy because she didn't have enough time to go buy some, and they were pissed, so they toilet papered her house. Once she say what the kids had done, she vowed that they would regret that, and a week later, she moved away. Well now, she's back, and she is on the hunt for the kids who wronged her years ago.
Henry went to look for the ball in the woods that his friend threw whilst they were playing catch. He was always scared of the woods, but they didn't have any other balls so this was his only option. He stepped and a branch creaked underneath his sneaker. Everything about these woods was creepy, especially the supposed monster who lives in it. They call it The Stalker because it picks a person every October 1st and stalks them and on Halloween, it kills them. Henry spotted the ball beside a tree, and when he turned around he say a black figure by a tree. Henry ran for his life because he knew what that thing was. Right before all his friends were going to go Trick or Treating, Henry was found dead in his bedroom.
My mom told me this place is dangerous, not liveable. Well, with him it is. I would live in Antartica if I got to live with Ivan. But, we have to move to England, of all places, and he is going to stay here in Russia. It isn't even that bad here. Just not much freedom. I bet it's the exact same everywhere else.
Today was our final goodbye. It was not a good day. I wailed and he sobbed.
"Just wait for me. I will be back once I finish school and get enough money to fly back here." I say through quiet sobs.
"I would wait forever if I had to." he whispered as he grabbed my hand. I placed my forehead against his and continued with my wails. My mom called for me. I didn't want to answer the call.
"I love you." I say as I grab my suitcase and ticket to get on the jet.
"I love you too." he calls out to me as I walk away. Once he says that, I realize that I won't be able to kiss him or hold him for a whole year and a half. I need a final goodbye kiss. I drop my things and run toward Ivan and jump into his arms. He catches me and his lips touch mine. That kiss was the best kiss in the history of kisses, most likely.
He puts me down, I grab my things, and my mom calls for me one last time. This time, I answer the call without running back. I give him a glance back, then go through the gate to board the jet to London, England.
Olivia felt her stomach rumble and ache in hunger. She hadn't ate in days. She needed to find food or she might starve. She looked around for some scraps in the garbage. No luck. She went to the bakery by the alley she lives in, or more like sleeps in. Closed because of a snowstorm. She tried to open the door anyways in frustration, and realizes that the owner forgot to lock the door. Olivia could just smell the baked bread once she burst through the glass doors on the small bakery. She went behind the counter so she could get all the baked goods out the display cases, and there were a lot of baked goods. From pastries to just loafs of bread, almost every baked good Olivia could think of. Whilst she was taking the danishes, she heard rummaging in the back. Maybe it's a raccoon or something trying to survive just like her? Olivia wouldn't find out until she went back there. She creeped towards the back, baked goods in hand, and froze in shock. It was the owner of the store. Why is she here? The sign said the bakery was closed, so that was supposed to mean that no one was here! "Who are you? What are you-are those the display goods?" the owner spat at the homeless girl like she was the raccoon she thought the owner was. Olivia dropped all the goods and ran for her life. She could here the owner grabbing something and immediately thought it was a weapon. She ran even faster. She got to the woods and almost passed out because of how out of breath she was. What Olivia didn't know was that the owner was right behind her with a pan in hand ready to smack the living daylights out of her. With one swing. Olivia was out cold.
"Wait. So you are saying we are all gonna die?!" Sandra yells out, but then immediately hushed by Roy. "Yes! And we will get killed faster if you keep yelling!" Roy hushes and looks for a way out the elevator shaft. As he is looking, something falls from the top of the shaft. "What is that?" Victoria says, walking closer to inspect the mystery item. Roy walks closer too, until he realizes... "That's a grenade!" Roy pushes Victoria away from it. "Don't touch me, perv!" Victoria screams. "We're all gonna get blown to bits!" Sandra tries crawling up the walls, with obviously no luck. "We are not going to die!" Roy tries to reassure, with no luck. Why did he have to get stuck in this shaft with the two stupidest people in the world? A popular cheerleader names Victoria and 10 year old Sandra. Why is it always him? As he is thinking this, the two girls are screaming so loud Antartica could probably hear it. After about a minute of them screaming (except Roy), Roy walks over to the grenade because if it was active, they would be dead right now. "Oh my god..." He says annoyed. The girls look over with questioned faces, finally quiet. "The pin isn't even pulled." "WHAT!?!?!" The two girls say at the same time, annoyed that they were frightened for no reason.
