Once upon a time In a world close to thine Lived a town of children who dreamed of nothing but sleep They danced half the day Did their homework right way And always remembered how many loving words to speak
They longed for the night Bundled up nice and tight As their parents sang them to sleep They prayed night would stay So they could dream the night away As they started to count their sheep
My feeling of belonging as a child was curled up on my father’s leg while he was in his recliner We would watch old John Wayne movies because they were my Daddy’s favorite We would travel to national parks in California He had the greatest belly laugh We loved being together My Daddy was a type A personality He liked to get wherever he was going as fast as possible He was hard working He own his own business We went to church every Sunday as a family My father had grown up Southern Baptist so that was how my parents wanted to raise me My Daddy was a deacon in the church and in the choir He was a war photographer during WWII My parents meet because my dad was stationed for training in my mother’s hometown He asked his future wife how old she was and lied an said he was one year older when he was almost four years younger We belonged together as a family They were both my home I miss them both

It was Jake & Parker’s first anniversary together. They were at dinner where they were startled. The lights went out. Loud noises were occurring around them. They wanted to run. Then they discover as lights turned on that it was a surprise party. With their hearts both beating wildly from the scare and there were both hyperventilating. Jake’s eyes that were already big they got larger. He was holding his chest with one hand and his girlfriend’s hand in the other.
