5 years have passed since THEY took over. Humans have been forced to live in secret underground, with only a couple hundred still living and rapidly decreasing due to starvation and being captured when searching for food on the surface. Who could have caused all of this destruction to what we believed to be an indestructible species? The small devils that we created.
Let’s back track a bit, I’m Copper Fields, one of the top scientist in all of America. The government decided what our military needed was the world’s smallest soldier that could sneak into the enemy’s body through the ears or nose and essentially shut down the target’s brain, basically assassination. I was asked to help assist in developing the technology to shrink a living organism, I personally liked to refer to it as the real life ant man. Long story short, one of our team members leaked the information on our tech to their home country, who used it to make millions. Lucky for us they did not use it in the same way as we intended to, instead they decided to shrink different animals and sell them as house pets or in petting zoos and it became a world wide phenomenon, more specifically, the shrunken elephants were what people really loved. They were called “Teacup Elephants” and they were adorable and replaced the pony in every little girl’s dreams. Everyone says elephants are smart, but we did not yet know to what extent. Once they started living like family dogs, they realized that they could cause chaos not only in the fields of Africa, but across all nations of our world. They were able to outsmart all of us and find ways to hold people hostage, destroy our homes and ways of transportation, and even man slaughter. The teacup elephants killed off almost all of us, but some of us were able to escape underground without them noticing.
We have been developing weapons and defenses to use against them for these past 5 years, and we are finally ready to take back what is ours in human’s biggest war against our own creation. We’ve even already come up with a name, and one quite nifty in my opinion. Since our war is against something we blindly called teacup we’ve decided this is our “One Lump of Revolution” to rebuild society.
Designs and patterns. Whatever grabs the eyes attention is Drew’s motive for visiting today’s grand opening at missions Thrift Store. Something for the wife he thought, would bring a smile to her face. But what could she need that she doesn’t already have, he thought. As he ponders and walks down each aisle that are marked with paper and marker he noticed this teacup that stood out like an elephant in a room. He imagined his wife stirring her tea each morning, gratification with each revolution of stir. I must get it ! He shouted, causing some other shoppers to stop in their tracks and suddenly look towards him. He brought his arm up and behind his head, in an apologetic manner. Without paying much attention as he spins on his foot to turn out he steps on a toy car that had lost its place in the shelf, throwing himself backwards and onto the ground. the teacup smashed into smithereens, with bits of pattern becoming unrecognizable. Drew’s vision turns to black.
I held the note, my eyes quickly scanning through the message. It was simple, short, and to the point.
"It begins. Bring the Elephant and the Teacup. Docks, 9 pm."
After years and years of planning, everything was going to end night. All that was left to do was to bring the two people who would be instrumental to the restoration of order to our country to the right place. The revolution would be over.
Then...
Then I will finally have peace.
I shivered. The thing I had been longing for all this time was here, practically in my reach. My fists clench, and it takes all of my willpower not to let out a relieved sigh.
"Is everything alright miss?" My young charge asks, his tone polite but concerned. I quickly hide my hands behind my back and face him with my best veneer of calmness.
"Of course, your higness. Everything is fine. I have simply received an update on what to do next."
His eyes widen. For once, he does not comment on my use of his title, rather than his name."We can finally come out of hiding?"
"Yes," I open my mouth to explain further, but his sister interrupts.
She slams her book shut and raises a single, perfectly styled, eyebrow at me. "Finally. It has taken far too long. When will we move?"
"As soon as possible, if it pleases, your majesty."
The smile which she directs at me is sharklike. A predator's expression. It is absurd how unsettling I find it to be, considering my position.
"Excellent. Let's show these usurpers the wrath of the Elephant Royalty, shall we?"
I straighten up and incline my head towards her. Underneath her breath, I could hear a murmur.
"Viva la revolution."
