Buried Love⏰💗 (Part 2)
_The God of Magic will save you! He’ll fix it. I’ll fix everything! This won’t be our new reality. This won’t! _Emilia thought, thinking of Barnie. She knew she could fix this. It was a scab. A scan that just needed time to heal.
Yet, no matter how hard Emilia tried to close her eyes, she couldn’t leave the memory. She knew if she pulled the emergency trigger on her magic bracelet, she would be led to a changed and awful reality. She couldn’t bare it, knowing she had caused this in the first place. That’s why she was currently sitting in a hospital room, still completely invisible, hoping and praying that Barnie would be okay and that she could find a way to fix this mess.
Then she remembered something which was ironic because she was still in a memory. But it happened. She remembered when she was around thirteen, and her school had held an eighth grade dance. Stevie’s friend had tried to squeeze on these golden shoes that were three sizes too small. They started hurting her horribly after forty minutes, but no one could get them off. Stevie and her friends got distracted, but it gave Emilia anxiety looking at how pained her face was. But that was the one time she kept her anxiety in control. She told herself to think. Then she went and grabbed a blow dryer Stevie brought with, and applied heat to the tight spots. It worked!
Emilia took a deep breath and tried to assess the situation.
_I was angry because my ex boyfriend was Barnie’s twin, and I saw him and me sitting in that chair when I watched their date which brought back painful memories, including the reason that Stevie was the reason we broke up, so I pulled Barnie’s chair thinking it wouldn’t do anything because I’m in a memory. _
_I had tried so hard to forget, and I had finally forgotten all about him. The week we had together had become like an old newspaper, forgotten. This memory brought everything back. His hair, his eyes, his love, his beauty, our happiness… and the day he left me. So of course this would have caused a mess. If I had known I would have to see them at that restaurant, I would’ve never agreed to this. _
_Stevie shouldn’t have made me. I shouldn’t have missed her. Because now, College me is desperately trying to console Stevie while also trying to console herself because of the shock that came with Stevie’s frantic call. Barnie’s mom is stiff in a way I’ve never seen, and I can’t think of a way to get out of this freaking memory!_
_Worst of all, Barnie’s twin brother is five minutes away._
_I can’t see him._
_I just can’t. Yet I can’t seem to think about anything else BUT HIM! _
That’s when, through all the pain, heartbreak, stress, and wrenching guilt, Emilia’s eyes finally started to feel heavy and close. A huge bucket of relief tipped over her head and poured down on her like cold rain after months of scorching heat.
Finally.

Just as she expected, she woke up in the same area that she had first entered through, and the God Of Magic was there, staring at her. She gulped, preparing herself for what came next.
“Emilia” he finally spoke as she neared him, flying.
“I-I’m-“ she stuttered.
“So from what I’ve head,” he interrupted “you interfered with a memory, not only causing a shift in the events of your life, but also paralyzing a guy who has been good to you his whole life.”
Emilia looked down, hot tears rolling down hee face. Barnie was the guy who had given her a ride when she had lost the keys to her car and was running late to work. Barnie was the guy who always made sure she wasn’t a third wheel around him and Stevie. Barnie was the guy who had introduced her to him.
She saw Barnie as the older brother she never had. She had never intended to hurt Barnie. Maybe a tad part of her ached to see Stevie squirm, but not _ever _Barnie.
“You, young lady, have more to you then meets the eye.” The God Of Magic told her, interrupting her thoughts.
She looked at him, shocked by his words. Even more surprising, he was smiling.
_Why is he not angry?! This is a sin… right?! I made a mess! _
“You look like you just saw a ghost.” He told her.
“I- I thought you’d be mad.” she forced herself to say.
“Oh honey.” He said coming over and outing his hand on her shoulder. “I’m not who you think I am. Just because I am a God doesn’t mean I’m the God of Holy and Honor. I’m the God of Magic. The God Of Fun. People have made worse magic mistakes than you have. I’ve seen it all, and I get it. Magic comes with a price, but you can’t let that price drown you. You can’t let others drown you. I always thought you were a person who never did that, Emilia. The way you have always talked to me is… so empowering. I never knew you would be bothered so much by another relationship. But it’s okay. Things are different now, and you are growing. I accept that. I still think you are a good girl. You have always taught me so much.”
Emilia was frozen. She had no idea what to say. She always thought people saw her as foolish and scared. Empowering was not a word she saw in herself.
“I don’t know what to say. Thank you.” She said breathlessly.
He wrapped her in a hug, his strong arms holding her in a way that made her feel purposeful.
As a young girl, Emilia loved magic. She used it for everything once she finished her training and got it under control. She felt extremely lucky to have it, as only people who were passed to it by their relatives got to experience it. She used it for everything, to make her food taste better when she cooked, to go back in time and retrieve whatever she had forgotten that day, and to teleport. Her visits with The God Of Magic were frequent. She enjoyed making him laugh, as she loved the sound of his laugh which was deep and free.
But as magic developed over time, it’s side affects got worse, and so did her anxiety. Her usage of it became less frequent.
Especially after he left her.
Which then reminded her of one thing she’d been wondering. “Why didn’t my hand just go through the wood? I’m invisible while watching those memories right?”
“That is a good question.” He replied. “Well, you were feeling a lot of emotions. Sometimes emotions can interfere with Magic’s ability to sustain itself. You also did something out of ordinary. Which could have possibly caused a problem too.”
Emilia took a breath “I’m really sorry.”
“Like I said, I’m not angry. Don’t be angry at yourself, let’s just move past it and try and fix things.”
Emilia nodded. “What do I do?”
“I have a friend, he’s kind of like my assistant. She might be able to guide you better as she keeps track of magical spells very well. Go to her. You will be safe then. All will end well. I promise.”
Emilia_ _wasn’t sure how he could just automatically assume that, but the way his voice sounded made her believe him. Once he gave her directions, she was off. Off to fix everything.
Or so she thought…

“Hello Emilia.” A voice said when she reached her destination.
She whipped around. “H-h-how do you know my name? Wait-“
Emilia froze because the lady’s features were sinking in.
Her brown eyes were older versions of hers. Her brown wavy hair and lavender smell made her think one word only.
_Mom._
__
“Mom? Wha-“
“I’m here to take what you’ve stolen from me.”
“What?! I’ve taken nothing-“
“Lies. Princess. You’re going to give me your magic, or Barnie stays damaged for the rest of your life.”
Emilia’s face turned tomato red, all of the good memories with her mom burning like ashes right in front of her.
She curled her hands into fists.
And she lounged at her.
….
Sincerely,
Caralia🫶🏼
